Position Description:

Develops web applications using modern server-side and client-side frameworks and languages, ensuring secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. Integrates DevSecOps practices to strengthen application security and streamline development workflows. Collaborates closely with technical leads, product owners, analysts, architects, and quality assurance teams to design, build, test, and deliver features that power Fidelity's digital experiences and personalized planning and advice product. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software applications using Jenkins, Artifactory, and uDeploy in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing software applications using Jenkins, Artifactory, and uDeploy in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing server-side enterprise financial services applications and RESTful microservices in distributed environments using J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and ORM frameworks - Hibernate, iBatis and JDBC; and performing unit testing using JUnit and Mockito.
  • DE performing responsive Web Model-View-Controller (MVC) design and front-end development, using Angular framework, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Bootstrap; and performing JavaScript unit and integration testing on front-end web applications according to Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) methodologies.
  • DE developing databases using Oracle PL/SQL and MySQL, crafting complex SQL queries, and optimizing data operations to maintain high availability and efficient Oracle DB and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud databases.
  • DE building and deploying Cloud applications using AWS and Azure via CI/CD methodology using Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, uDeploy, and Kubernetes; developing observability metrics and views that provide insight into application health, using DataDog and Splunk; and orchestrating best practice procedures using Shell scripting, Docker, and Helm.
