JOB DESCRIPTION:
TECHFORGE Solutions, a TECHFORGE company, is looking for an experienced and talented senior level software engineer to join our development team in Dayton, OH. We are looking for a senior level software engineer to work with a diverse team of software engineers and analysts to explore and develop solutions in support of fifth generation fighter aircraft. The ideal candidate must possess at least ten years of recent software engineering experience with fifth generation fighter aircraft or a current aircraft system in the modernization / sustainment phase.


The ideal candidate will apply extensive knowledge and experience in modernization, software engineering, policies and procedures to the procurement of AF systems, subsystems, and equipment throughout their life cycles. The ideal candidate will apply integration, communication, coordination, organizational, and planning expertise to technical and acquisition efforts across a broad spectrum of functional disciplines in order to effectively assist in the implementation of program direction. The ideal candidate will plan, organize, and assist in managing critical aspects of the development, production, and/or deployment of systems, subsystems, and equipment. The ideal candidate must be familiar with iterative/Agile software development and processes.


The candidate will oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.


The candidate must provide expert advice, assistance, guidance or counseling in support of management, technical, organizational and business improvement or investigative efforts for software systems as part of the Modernization Program. The candidate will also develop studies, analysis and reports documenting any proposed developmental, consultative or implementation efforts/recommendations. The candidate will provide niche/specialized expertise to programs within the Modernization Program to include but is not limited to strategic, business and action planning; systems alignment; cycle time; process and productivity improvement; organization assessments; high performance work; leadership systems; performance measures and indicators; and program audits and evaluations for the various acquisition modernization efforts within the organization. The ideal candidate must possess previous experience with weapon systems security engineering and cryptographic systems experience that will significantly expedite the candidates ability to have an immediate impact to the daily operations of the program.


The candidate will provide support in the area of software engineering development to programs including but not limited to strategic, business and action planning; program management, risk management, systems alignment; cycle time; process and productivity improvement; organization assessments; high performance work; leadership systems; performance measures and indicators; and program audits and evaluations. Emphasis will be placed on all software development systems for the program through the completion of the modernization activities. The modernization program includes programs and integration planning activities for software, hardware, aircraft modification, and training.


The candidate must provide expertise in software products to include all software related aircraft functions. The candidate will provide technical review of proposed software solutions and provide recommendations to ensure software development meets requirements and schedules and the candidate must participate, as required, in technical and program reviews.


The candidate will provide recommendations for the most efficient and effective means to plan and contract for the transitions to support post modernization and sustainment activities for the program.


The candidate must support development, review, or updates to applicable program documentation for software engineering relevant requirements. The candidate must support OEM software assurance efforts which includes program protection, cybersecurity, and airworthiness certification efforts.


The candidate will apply extensive knowledge and experience in aircraft software engineering, policies and procedures to the procurement and sustainment of AF systems, subsystems, and equipment throughout their life cycles.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • All candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
  • All candidates must pass a background check.
  • A current Secret (or higher) level U.S. government security clearance is required, or they must have previously had a clearance and be able to reactivate it.
  • B.S. degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent field
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills


MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent field +10 years applicable experience; Master's degree +7 years applicable experience; or PhD +5 years applicable experience. No degree is required if the person meets the above qualifications and has at least 15 years of professional experience.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years professional software development experience (depending on degree).
  • 7+ years industry experience with C++, C
  • 1+ years industry experience with Python, or Java.
  • Experience using source control and CI/CD tools such as git, Bitbucket, Gitlab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Experience with the agile software lifecycle and agile development processes.
  • Expertise and experience with component-based architectures.
  • Expertise and experience native models, plugins, extensions, command syntax, and scripting in an AFSIM context.
  • Ability to assess the accuracy and effectiveness of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Conduct data analysis and orchestration of a large volume of data sources, threat indicators, and inputs.
  • Must possess and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess and exhibit the ability and desire to work in a hybrid/remote, collaborative, team environment.
  • Must possess functional experience with remote collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, WebEx, Meet, Zoom, etc.).
  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% as needed.


DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong expertise and professional experience with AFSIM
  • Professional experience working with modeling and simulation tools such as NGTS, TMAP, and ITASE.
  • Experience with using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Professional involvement with the AFSIM community.
  • Deep understanding of the World Simulation Framework.
  • Expertise and experience with Application, Scenario, and Simulations.
  • Experience with other mission-level simulation frameworks.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and experience working with classification handling and marking protocols.
