Job description

Job Title: Sr. Quality Engineer
Department: Operations
Reports To: Senior Manager of Quality & Process
Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer will work closely with all functional groups across the production system to develop, implement, and maintain robust quality processes, verification methods, and documentation. This position owns quality oversight within assigned manufacturing or assembly areas, supports cross-functional teams, and drives effective corrective actions that ensure long-term product conformance and process reliability. As the Senior Quality Engineer, they will be responsible for maintenance and process ownership of command media related to maintaining an effective quality management system adherent to ISO9001 standards.

Job Duties

  • Provides interpretation of quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops quality metrics, certification plans, and verification strategies to ensure compliance with internal, contractual, and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in gated-cross-functional reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product, tooling, and manufacturing designs.
  • Conducts data-driven root-cause analyses and supports the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to eliminate non-conformances.
  • Conducts process audits, verification reviews, and readiness assessments for manufacturing and test operations.
  • Designs and supports advanced verification methods including probing, vision systems, automated measurement systems, sampling, and statistical process control.
  • Assists in development of measurement plans, test procedures, and associated data analysis using metrology systems and software.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • MUST LOVE GUNS!

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May provide technical guidance and occasional supervision to junior personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (e.g., Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university, with more than five years related experience. Experience may be counted in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality, Engineering, or related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within recognized quality-management systems (e.g., ISO9001, AS9100).
  • Experience in statistical analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and process capability improvement.
  • Experience with metrology, CAD/CAM tools, automated measurement systems, or composite/electromechanical manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience with DFM principles, testing, inspection methods, or electronics/PCBA environments is beneficial.
  • Experience with adherence to MIL-STD a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, common scientific, technical journals and technical procedures, or governmental regulations.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Lean, Six-Sigma, Scrum/Agile, or PMP certifications a plus.


COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Solidworks CAD. (expertise in Catia, ProE, Solid Edge or Unigraphics is acceptable)
  • PDM such as SW Enterprise or Enovia
