Job description

Job title:                             Sr Engineer - Quality

Department / Division:      Quality Assurance/Research and Development

What do we need:

We are seeking a driven, ambitious engineer that has is interested in working across the life cycle of consumable products.  We are seeking team members that have a deep understanding of quality processes, product development cycle, and translating data into action.  Our team is looking for someone who can collaborate across multiple functions, problem solve, and advocate for prevention of quality issues through ‘Quality by Design (QbD)’ thinking.  This position will have responsibility across a range of product and package types with a focus on new technology and product development for global introduction.

Your ability to work collaboratively, interpret data, and provide solutions will be valued in this role as you work broadly with many internal and external partners.  You will use a broad application of quality, root cause analysis, and problem-solving practices and principles to ensure the highest quality products are launched in our worldwide markets.  You will have the opportunity to manage, lead, and/or participate in complex cross-functional efforts to improve product quality and processes.

You will also have the opportunity to learn or use your past experience to execute a broad range of quality functions, including:


- Participate on and serve as QA lead for new product development projects to ensure Quality by Design actions are taken to influence new product designs that eliminate problematic materials, processes and manufacturing design

- Interface with manufacturing, process engineering, product development, and regulatory representatives concerning raw material issues and ensure effective corrective action is implemented as appropriate.

- Lead quality improvement initiatives and teams or participate as QA lead for cross-functional initiatives including but not limited to equipment qualification, value chain projects and new product launches
- Represent the customer to resolve quality issues encountered during the course of normal product usage
- Ensure that products, materials and services comply with established specifications and technical requirements through application of quality tools and principles

- Communicate and enforce our Global Quality Conformance Checklists to ensure the same quality standards are upheld equally across the globe
- Provide support to others on technical programs and projects which may include directing the day-to-day work of technicians, lower-level scientists/engineers, interns and/or contractors

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, and/or Product Development in the CPG, food, or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in root cause investigations and/or product development
  • Demonstrated experience in Quality by Design or experience in product or process development is preferred
  • Experience in statistical analysis (in Minitab or JMP) is preferred
  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • Experience in or supporting a GMP manufacturing environment
  • Experience with quality standards and Design for Quality practices
  • Experience with data analysis, statistical techniques, and problem solving
  • Ability to collaborate with Product Development, Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, and Manufacturing to effectively and efficiently resolve issues
