Come join our expanding team in the Warfare Systems Business Group at HII-Mission Technologies! We are seeking a talented Qlik Data Engineer (Mid-level) to support remotely and to play a pivotal role in supporting Executive Order projects. This high-impact position focuses on enhancing a centralized data environment (CDE) that delivers auditable financial transaction data, improves transparency and accountability across DoW, and builds a robust common operating picture for senior leadership decision-making.
Successful candidates are expert Python developers with strong relational database (SQL) skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset. You will translate strategic imperatives into actionable data and Qlik-based solutions-ensuring the right data reaches the right stakeholders at the right time to drive mission success in a dynamic national security environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Designs, models, documents, and governs the logical and conceptual data architectures, relationships, and schema evolutions for complex, enterprise-scale applications in support of tracking and accountability reforms.
  • Analyzes current and emerging system requirements, then develops comprehensive technical, structural, and organizational specifications to enable auditable, transparent data flows.
  • Establishes and enforces data modeling standards, capacity planning, and performance optimization to support high-reliability DoW environments.
  • Develops robust Python-based scripts and ETL/ELT pipelines for efficient, secure data ingestion, transformation, and integration from diverse sources.
  • Leverages deep expertise in Relational Databases (SQL) for advanced querying, schema design, optimization, and data integrity assurance.
  • Operates within Agile/SAFe development frameworks to deliver iterative, high-value increments aligned with business priorities and DoW policies.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to align development efforts with strategic FMS reform objectives, including enhanced tracking, oversight, and reporting.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required to advance mission goals.

Qlik Data Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain Qlik data models and ETL pipelines
  • Integrate data from multiple sources into Qlik Sense/QlikView environments
  • Optimize Qlik data models for speed, efficiency, and scalability
  • Develop and maintain load scripts, data transformations, and automations
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across dashboards
  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to understand data needs
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in Qlik applications and data loads
  • Manage QVD structures, data layers, and incremental load strategies
  • Support deployment, version control, and environment management
  • Implement data governance, security rules, and access controls

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience with Python development and relational databases (SQL)
  • Proven Python development experience, including building scalable data pipelines and automation solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Qlik Sense/QlikView, QVD structures, and Qlik data modeling
  • Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines, data integrations, or automation workflows in enterprise environments
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in collaborative team settings.
  • Self-motivated initiator with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration
  • Remote-eligible position; must align with Eastern Time Zone core business hours

Database Engineer II
2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
Database Engineer III
5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
Database Engineer IV
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
Preferred Requirements
  • Strong understanding of transactional data flows, financial management systems, and auditability requirements in DoW/security cooperation contexts.
  • Direct experience with ADVANA.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency for complex querying, performance tuning, database administration, and optimization.
  • Experience in SAFe Agile environments, including participation in PI planning, Scrum/Kanban ceremonies, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Candidate who resides in east coast

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods while working at a computer.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment to perform analytical tasks.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in virtual meetings, briefings, and secure collaboration environments.
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret digital data for extended periods with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Occasional light lifting of documents or equipment up to 10 lbs, if needed for home-office setup.
  • Must maintain a home work environment that meets company and government security requirements (e.g., controlled space for handling sensitive or FOUO information, if applicable).
  • Must be able to work assigned East Coast core business hours (40 hours/week) to support program and customer requirements.
