Role Overview

We develop, automate and support continuously running tests for our real-time systems. We're looking for hard-core Python programmers who enjoy developing testing tools and automated tests. If you've built testing frameworks from scratch, we want to talk to you! Our team combines the best practices of DevOps and QA to enable frequent and fast delivery of high-quality software. We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, and fault tolerance.

In addition, as a senior member of the Cboe QA team, you'll bring your industry experience in QA/testing to help us modernize our QA automation. Specifically, we're looking for someone who has direct industry experience with modern AI tools and techniques and can help us develop and enhance our QA processes within an AI-centric software development lifecycle. Our QA engineers have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, programming, and software engineering. We are analytical thinkers. We are always developing and improving our craft. If it's broken, we fix it. If it needs refactoring, we refactor it. If it's hard to test, we make it testable. We love automation. We ship code weekly. We're looking for like-minded individuals to join us.

What You'll Do

  • Estimate, plan, and lead testing efforts

  • Translate testing requirements into automated regression tests for our Exchange platforms

  • Review code, guide newer team members

  • Contribute to new tool designs and testing techniques

  • Apply modern AI techniques to QA activities within the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Become familiar with our supported asset classes such as equities, options, futures, and indices

  • Learn trading concepts and apply this knowledge to develop a wide variety of test scenarios

What You Bring:

AI and Automation

  • Demonstrable experience with implementing an AI-centric SDLC in the QA space

  • Practical experience with tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar

  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks - LangChain, AutoGen, or equivalents

  • A builder's instinct: you see where AI can remove friction and you act on it

Core Engineering Skills

  • Three to five years of QA experience, with recent and demonstrable experience coding and enhancing test frameworks and creating automated test cases

  • One to three years of experience planning, organizing, and leading test efforts or testing teams

  • Strong Python programming chops

  • Solid Linux skills

Supporting Technical Skills

  • Databases: PostgreSQL (preferred), MySQL or Oracle; working SQL proficiency required

  • Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence)

  • Experience with Git-based version control

  • CI/CD tooling experience, including Jenkins

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field - or equivalent experience

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)

At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and marketinformed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $93,500-$121,000, with actual compensation determined by jobrelated factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.

This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
