Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position:                   Data Analyst

Supervisor:               Director of Public Policy and Funding

Location:                   Bud Clark Commons; 665 NW Hoyt St

Hours:                        Monday – Friday 

Starting Salary:         $72,800-$83,200 DOE

Classification:           Exempt, Unrepresented, Full-Time, Benefits Eligible

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating the workload of the Information Services team, serving as a project lead, serving as the reporting and data liaison to partner agencies, triaging help desk items, and is responsible for coordinating the training of IS team members. The Data Analyst is responsible for developing key performance indicators, overseeing data collection, and report preparation and submission. Provide accurate and on-time reporting for internal programs and external reporting to funders. Provide technical support to staff using data systems. Ensure data integrity, run routine reports and create new reports as needs arise. Focus of duties may be adjusted at any time.
 

Data Reporting and Analysis Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the data team.
  2. Oversee staff training on Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) database.
  3. Submit timely reports to external funders.
  4. Serve as the data and reporting liaison to partner agencies.
  5. Create reports for internal teams.
  6. Establish key performance indicators.
  7. Structure large data sets to find usable information.
  8. Run and distribute reports..
  9. Prepare final analysis reports for the stakeholders to understand the data-analysis steps, enabling them to take important decisions based on various facts and trends. 
  10. Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  11. Using statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Each Transition Projects employee must:

  1. Acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire and be retested biannually thereafter throughout employment.
  2. Complete Bloodborne Pathogens and Narcan Training within 30 days of hire and be retested annually thereafter throughout employment.
  3. Demonstrate reliability by being present for work as scheduled, arriving and leaving on time and taking breaks in expected time frames.
  4. Interact effectively with persons of diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  5. Attend agency and program staff meetings.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff and interaction with the general public.
  2. Hearing adequate for telephone work. Vision adequate for close work.
  3. Hand and finger dexterity adequate to operate standard office equipment.
  4. Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, reach, stoop, pull, squat, and climb stairs and ladders.
  5. Sitting at a desk completing paperwork and working on a computer for lengthy periods.
  6. Mobility to allow responsive traveling to participant residences located around the metro area.
  7. Ability to perform CPR and other emergency life-saving care with the assistance of teammates until emergency responders arrive.
  8. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and is able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways.

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field, and at least two (2) years of experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, data management, or a related field; OR three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role.
  2. 2+ years experience with programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, or Oracle preferred.
  3. Experience in handling reporting packages like Business Objects, programming (JavaScript, XML, or ETL frameworks), databases
  4. Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, SAS to be used for data set analysis.
  5. Training or experience in data analysis and data-based report generation.
  6. Experience cleaning and preparing data.
  7. Experience developing reports and dashboards.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in the delivery of services to clients.
  10. Excellent computer skills. Demonstrated ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, email, and Internet programs, as well as familiarity with various reporting tools and technologies (SQL and advanced Excel skills highly desirable).
  11. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  12. Good interpersonal relationship skills.
  13. Basic understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, mental health, domestic violence and sexual assault.
  14. Experience working with homeless/low-income population preferred but not required.
