Senior Project Manager

  • STV currently has openings for a Senior Project Manager with extensive NJDOT transportation experience.
  • STV is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex transportation infrastructure projects for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). This role offers the opportunity to manage high-profile, multidisciplinary projects from early planning and environmental phases through final design and construction, while serving as the primary point of responsibility for technical delivery, schedule, budget, quality, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Project Manager for large, complex NJDOT transportation projects from Preliminary Design/Engineering through completion of Construction.
  • Provide full responsibility for project budget, schedule, scope, quality management, and delivery of design documents and technical study reports.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, subconsultants, and internal staff across all project phases.
  • Manage and oversee compliance with FHWA and NJDOT requirements, including NEPA documentation and approvals.
  • Direct public outreach efforts, including coordination with agencies, municipalities, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Oversee design quality control and ensure adherence to NJDOT standards, manuals, and policies.
  • Support construction engineering activities, including review of shop drawings, construction schedules, and preparation of Change of Plans.
  • Act as the primary client liaison, ensuring clear communication, risk management, and successful project delivery.
  • Qualifications:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of New Jersey (required).
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex transportation projects for NJDOT or similar public agencies.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Requirements:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey.
  • Experience managing at least one complex, large transportation project from Preliminary Design/Engineering through completion of Construction within the last 15 years. Deputy Project Management experience does not qualify.
  • Experience with the FHWA NEPA process, including environmental documentation and coordination.
  • Direct responsibility for maintaining project budget, schedule, scope, and quality management, including accountability for delivery of design documents and/or study reports.
  • Experience leading and participating in project public outreach, including coordination with agencies, municipalities, and the public.
  • Experience managing projects which included:
    • Highway Design, such as Geometric Design and/or Drainage Design and/or Traffic Signal/Safety Engineering and/or ITS and/or Pavement Design and/or Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) and/or ROW Engineering and/or Access Design and/or Utility Relocation.
    • Structural Design, including Bridge Replacement and/or Geotechnical and Foundation Design and/or Substructure Design and/or Retaining Wall Design.
  • Experience in Construction Engineering, including Shop Drawing Reviews, Construction Schedule Reviews, and preparation of Change of Plans.

Compensation Range:

$131,710.96 - $175,614.61
