Position Summary

The Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for leading mechanical engineering projects from concept through start-up, with a focus on technical execution, cost, schedule, and scope management. This role applies strong engineering principles to design, install, and commission process equipment, while collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

The position also involves evaluating and implementing new technologies, improving existing process equipment, conducting design reviews and risk assessments, and solving complex technical challenges where standard solutions may not exist. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical engineering expertise with project management capability, CAD proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design and/or provide project engineering. Apply strong technical skills to all facets of the project, including budgeting, planning, and scope development; equipment specifications; design; and start-up, while coordinating with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Apply and interpret broader scientific or engineering theories and concepts.
  • Work on a wide range of problems where causal relationships are difficult to establish or no precedent exists, requiring creative and imaginative thinking.
  • Design, install, and start up proprietary and/or purchased process equipment.
  • Create layouts, conduct design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
  • Identify, recommend, and assist with upgrades to existing process equipment.
  • Other assignments as required. 
Qualifications
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and driven, with a passion for problem-solving; the ability to work collaboratively as part of an integrated team; and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering is required (mechanical engineering preferred).
  • 3–8 years of experience in mechanical design and/or project engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks experience preferred) and 2D CAD (DraftSight/AutoCAD preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, delivering results with minimal guidance from management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic that aligns with Sealed Air’s core values.
  • Proficient with project management tools such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Project, as well as Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience working on plastic extrusion platforms is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20-25%.
Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $102,600-$135,000

The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs. Sealed Air offers a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other benefits designed to promote well-being.
