Job description

Woolpert is hiring a Senior Project Architect to join our dynamic Architecture team in our Charlotte, NC office. This position reports to the Architectural Team Leader and is responsible for contributing to multiple projects types across the region and across the nation. Project types include lower/higher educational facilities, data centers, and other public or private market developments.

What You Will Do:

  • Drive project execution, along with the project manager, working closely with clients, consultants, team members, and other project contributors.
  • Guide and manage a team of architects, engineers, and production staff to deliver innovative projects that exceed client expectations.
  • Lead research into relevant code, materials and systems, and client-specific prompts, leveraging derived insights to create unique and innovative design solutions.
  • Develop thoughtful technical solutions and manage the delivery of clear and concise project documentation.
  • Seek opportunities to contribute to design excellence by playing an active role in a collaborative design process.
  • Participate in the conceptual design of projects and provide full support through the entire project life cycle.
  • Develop and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects
  • Review completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations
  • Prepare graphics, presentations, contract drawings, and regulatory submissions
  • Organize and maintain project record information and drawings
  • Coordinate with clients, project consultants, and engineers
  • Plan and supervise design and/or technical work of less senior architects and technicians

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in the design of architectural projects
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture; master's degree a plus
  • Architectural License or NCARB certification required; LEED accreditation preferred
  • Proficient in Revit and Bluebeam with advanced-level competency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to apply architectural principles to buildings/structures and their components or assemblies.
  • Ability to handle designing and drafting assignments including site plans, floor plans, elevations, and sections required
  • Self-motivated to meet deadlines and improve process and deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to write reports and specifications required
