Job description

NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED FULL-TIME IN OUR HOUSTON, TX OFFICE LOCATED AT 990 TOWN & COUNTRY BLVD.

POSITION SUMMARY: Lead the Project Accounting function for NuScale, working closely with project teams and Corporate Accounting. Coordinate across multiple organizational stakeholders to ensure that processes, tools, and reporting maintain compliance and meet corporate and project needs. Provide project accounting expertise to support proposals, project setup, invoicing, project cost and revenue entry/monitoring, change management, performance reporting, and corporate rolling forecasting and budgeting. This is a matrix-reporting role which reports to both the VP, Product and Project Delivery and Senior Director, Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead the project accounting function. Provide subject matter expertise, process ownership, and continuous improvement for the project accounting and cost reporting processes, ensuring compliance with all internal controls and government account standards, including those for Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and external regulations.
  2. As owner of the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) module in Oracle, understand the organization's information needs and work to meet those needs through data feeds and standard project processes
  3. Coordinate with Corporate Accounting, Finance, Project Managers, Project Controls, Human Resources, and Supply Chain stakeholders to understand and integrate project accounting processes and internal controls with specific Oracle functionalities to enable project and contract set-up, time collection, project cost allocation, revenue and billing milestone achievements, project invoicing and forecasting.
  4. Manage project set up in the ERP systems as part of the project initiation process, including ensuring that the work breakdown structure supports invoicing and revenue recognition milestones, as well as project requirements.
  5. Lead the monthly project accrual process.
  6. Oversee timely and accurate preparation of all customer invoices.
  7. Interface with project teams regarding change management issues to quantify and optimize project financial impacts and provide guidance on company financial policies.
  8. Work with proposal and commercial teams to provide project review and direction on pricing for new contracts. Review contract and scope language for risk, profitability and margin to meet project financial goals. Review contract work breakdown structures to confirm appropriateness for both invoicing and revenue recognition.
  9. Develop and deliver training to project staff on both project accounting principles, cost and revenue forecasting, and project reporting with Oracle.
  10. Hire, train, and manage project accounting staff and foster a high-performing team culture.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. An advanced degree and/or certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of project accounting experience, with 4 or more years in a leadership role managing a project controls/project accounting organization.The following skills and abilities are required:
    • Demonstrated proficiency of project accounting practices in a multi-project, multi-company environment adhering to SOX
    • Ability to analyze operational results and produce work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Practical knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP (primarily PPM) and EPM is preferred
    • Demonstrated proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives
    • Working knowledge and understanding of US GAAP; understanding of FAR Part 31 is a plus
    • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:

The target base salary range for this position is $150,537 - $181,683 annually. The full base salary range is $134,964 - $211,098 annually.
