Project Accountant / Controller


Troy, MI | On-Site | $80,000-$100,000

Help Build the Finance Function of a Growing Construction Company


We're partnering with an established and growing heavy civil construction contractor seeking a Project Accountant / Controller to lead its accounting operations.

This is more than a traditional accounting role. You'll work directly with ownership, help improve financial reporting, support strategic growth initiatives, and play an instrumental role in building the company's accounting infrastructure as revenue continues to grow.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Manage WIP schedules and Percentage of Completion accounting
  • Perform job costing and project financial analysis
  • Review contracts and subcontractor agreements
  • Assist with month-end close and year-end reporting
  • Partner with an outside CPA firm
  • Improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Support a future migration from QuickBooks to Sage
  • Collaborate closely with ownership on financial strategy and operational decisions


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
  • Construction accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with:
  • WIP reporting
  • Job costing
  • Percentage of Completion accounting
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Strong Excel skills
  • QuickBooks experience required
  • Sage experience is a plus
