Job description


PURPOSE
The Senior Engineer position is to define problems, conducting, and narrow research, analyze criteria, find and analyze solutions, and make decisions. Much of this role will be spent researching, locating, applying, and transferring information.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Be creattive: innovation of new departmental processes and/or new products
  • Be reliable: available to complete tasks/ projects as required by internal / external customer requirements
  • Communicate with various departments, external customers, or directly associated with assigned tasks/ projects (verbal and written)
  • Occasional travel: mainly for training purposes, customer projects, trips to Japan, or vendor evaluations
  • Take verbal and/or written directions on tasks, training, project or department / company policies
  • Provide verbal and or written results, summary of tasks/ projects, or requests to various persons during execution of tasks/ projects
  • Produce the end product of requested tasks in the form of components, assemblies, drawings, data files, proposals, reports, or presentations
  • Collect, interpret, and clarify customer requirements
  • Develop / modify designs to meet customer provided requirements 
  • Provide specific designs to meet customer provided requirements. customer support
  • Establish and improve upon product cost targets
  • Complete detailed product analysis
  • Lead the introduction of standard product for distribution and manufacturing
  • Lead projects
  • Assist other design engineers with projects
  • Provide training to engineers
  • Provide product and/or process assistance to manufacturing as requested. 
  • Record daily activities
  • Will be assigned tasks for training and development purposes
  • Other duties, as assigned to support company goals
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasional physical demand of moving or rearranging files and file storage boxes, and or product
  • Fast-paced office environment 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or the equivalent in appropriate education and experience as determined by management
  • Proficient with CAD software (Design & Manufacturing disciplines)
  • Basic understanding of common manufacturing processes
  • Good oral and written skills
  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers tactfully and in a professional manner
