Job description

Zoox is starting to emerge from its R&D phase and move into commercial operations. The process and strategy team within fleet operations is responsible for identifying and implementing operational improvements that enable us to scale efficiently while maintaining a great rider experience. The process team is looking at everything from how we reduce the number of handoffs between teams in the Fusion Center, to how we improve the quality of our responses, to how quickly we clean and repair vehicles and get them back on the road, and everything in between.

This role will design, coordinate, document, and implement large-scale operational process improvement initiatives for the Mission Readiness program. The Mission Readiness team is responsible for charging, cleaning, inspecting, and performing other similar tasks where vehicle turn times are key. A successful candidate can manage and iterate on an approach to identifying, assessing, and driving continuous improvements to scale operations. The candidate must be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with tactical, detailed execution while working independently, sorting through ambiguously defined problems, identifying and facing major challenges, and adapting to sudden and frequent change.

In this role, you will:
  • Identify operational improvements for the Mission Readiness function that set us up for scale
  • Work cross-functionally to intake, document, and prioritize requests for process changes from a number of partner teams
  • Design and document workflows focused on vehicle charging, cleaning, inspections, etc
  • Provide bi-weekly status updates to key stakeholders on process improvement initiatives
  • Set the vision for the Mission Readiness function and ensure success via metrics like vehicle turnaround time
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in program management, operational excellence, process improvement, or a related field
  • Experience in a product-based operations environment
  • Prior experience developing and using data and metrics to support strategic decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive mindset and resourcefulness
Bonus Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Program Management, etc.)
  • Six Sigma Certifications
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification
  • Experience in the autonomous vehicle, ride-hail, transportation, or other relevant mobility industries
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and ideally, possessing certifications
