Senior Risk & Safety Analyst

Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

The Senior Risk & Safety Analyst supports the organization’s risk management, workers' compensation, safety, and office operations functions under the direction of the VP, Human Resources and Risk. This role tracks and analyzes risk exposure, coordinates insurance renewals and claims, administers the Certificate of Insurance (COI) compliance program, and maintains workers' compensation and safety compliance programs, exercising discretion to determine which matters require escalation to the VP. The role also oversees office operations and facilities coordination, with the support of two part-time Office Assistants.

Essential Job Functions:

These functions are critical to the role and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Track and analyze the organization’s risk management programs, including insurance policies such as E&O, EPLI, property, auto, cyber, and related coverages, recommending changes to the VP as needed.
  • Lead the insurance renewal process, including collecting underwriting data and completing renewal applications, and partnering with brokers to evaluate coverage and analyze risk exposure; present renewal recommendations to the VP for final decision.
  • Review policies for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and evaluate potential coverage gaps; create solutions that address coverage gaps, provide recommendations to the VP.
  • Conduct site inspections and risk assessments; identify issues, prioritize corrective actions, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Track risk-related claims, coordinating with carriers, maintaining documentation, and monitoring resolution status; report high-priority claims and assist in claim resolution.
  • Administer the Certificate of Insurance (COI) compliance program, including tracking and follow-up; enforce compliance and report issues.
  • Ensure continuity of COI processes through cross-training and delegation of routine tasks as appropriate.
  • Administer the workers’ compensation program, including claim management protocols, coordinating vendor partnerships with insurance carriers and medical providers, and implementing cost-containment initiatives such as return-to-work programs and safety audits.
  • Administer workers’ compensation claim filings and documentation as needed, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and effective coordination with carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze claims data and trends; implement or recommend corrective actions to reduce risk and cost.
  • Lead workers’ compensation renewals and manage policy audits, including data validation and documentation.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with OSHA and applicable safety regulations, including maintaining logs and completing required reporting.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and implement compliant programs and practices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, including Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPP), Workplace Violence Prevention Plans, and Emergency Action Plans.
  • Manage office operations, including office vendors, supplies, equipment maintenance, and facility-related services.
  • Determine and coordinate timing of maintenance, repairs, and vendor services to minimize operational disruption.
  • Ensure effective communication of office updates, closures, and operational impacts.
  • Manage office access, security protocols, and workplace logistics.
  • Supervise two part-time Office Assistants, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Delegate administrative responsibilities and ensure efficient execution of office support functions.
  • Address escalated office and administrative issues.
  • Partner with HR and IT to support onboarding logistics such as setting up a workspace, setting up office access, and provide office orientation to ensure a seamless "Day One" team member experience.
  • Support the administration of employee benefits by maintaining cross-functional proficiency in billing reconciliation, discrepancy identification, and coordination of resolution with vendors and stakeholders to ensure seamless backup coverage and operational continuity.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, risk management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-7 years of progressive experience in risk management, insurance administration, office operations, or a related field.
  • Experience managing insurance renewals, claims, or compliance programs required.
  • Supervisory or lead experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, insurance programs, workers' compensation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving in operational and compliance matters.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, brokers, carriers, and vendors.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with workers' compensation and/or safety programs strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift, up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Read, interpret, and compute figures as well as draft correspondence.
  • Visual acuity to read paperwork and computer monitors.
  • Mobility required to attend meetings throughout the organization and attend on-site meetings, if needed.
  • Regularly communicate verbal and written messages with others.
  • Ability to travel sites to conduct inspections and risk assessments, as needed, but at least annually.
Hybrid Work Responsibilities:

Typical office setting with frequent collaboration with stakeholders and external vendors.

This is a hybrid position that requires schedule in office days, and provides teleworking opportunities based upon our hybrid workplace policy. Standard business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime work may be required to meet operational needs or support special events/projects.

To be able to work a hybrid schedule, Team Members must be in good standing, current on their IT data security training, have a reliable and secure internet connection, and must be able to communicate and collaborate using Microsoft Teams. Hybrid Team Members are expected to meet their goals, maintain a professional and safe work environment and set clear boundaries between work and personal time.
