Job description

Our law firm is seeking a driven Litigation Associate to join our close knit team. You will assist senior members of the firm with litigating complex probate disputes, including will contests, trust contests, power of attorney abuse, and contested adult guardianship matters. This role requires a skilled advocate who can compassionately but honestly guide clients through emotionally challenging legal conflicts. Candidate attributes should include strong academic performance, proficient legal writing skills, research, and mastery of oral advocacy. Candidate is expected to employ investigative skills and assist in preparation of statewide probate matters with large amounts in controversy. Compensation and benefits competitive with similar firms in central Indiana. Profit sharing plan after three years of employment. Salary commensurate with candidate qualification and experience.

  • Manage cases: Handle probate litigation matters from initial client intake through trial or settlement.
  • Draft pleadings: Write petitions, motions, discovery requests and responses, appellate briefs.
  • Conduct discovery: Take and defend depositions of family members, medical experts, and financial institutions.
  • Represent clients in Court: Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue motions before probate judges.
  • Assist and eventually lead trials: Prepare trial briefs, cross-examine witnesses, and present evidence at trial.
  • Advise clients: Guide clients through complex adult guardianships, and trust disputes.
  • Investigate abuse: Review financial records to uncover and litigate power of attorney abuse and breach of fiduciary duty.
