Job description

Position Summary

South Bay Solutions is seeking a highly detail-oriented Precision Masking Technician to support our new powder coating operation serving the semiconductor and medical device industries.

This position is responsible for accurately masking machined metal components prior to powder coating using a variety of masking materials and techniques. The ideal candidate understands that masking directly impacts product quality and customer acceptance.

This is a precision manufacturing position requiring patience, creativity, efficiency, and exceptional attention to detail.


Essential Responsibilities

Interpret work instructions, engineering drawings and masking requirements.

Apply high-temperature masking tapes, silicone plugs, caps, discs and custom masking solutions.

Develop creative masking techniques for complex geometries.

Protect critical surfaces, threaded holes, sealing surfaces and precision machined features.

Verify masking before parts enter the powder coating process.

Remove masking after curing without damaging coated surfaces.

Inspect completed parts for masking defects.

Maintain masking inventory and recommend new masking products.

Participate in continuous improvement activities to reduce masking time while maintaining quality.

Assist with part preparation, hanging and packaging as required.

Maintain clean work area using 6S principles.


Required Qualifications

2+ years masking experience in:

o Powder coating

o Industrial painting

o Aerospace

o Precision metal finishing

Ability to read blueprints

Excellent hand dexterity

High attention to detail

Experience using:

o High-temperature tapes

o Silicone plugs

o Silicone caps

o Liquid masking

o Custom masking fixtures
