The Well Service Rig Manager: is responsible for safely running an operation professionally, with multiple workover rigs in the fleet. This position requires a high level of knowledge and skills to operate a safe, efficient, and reputable operation. Responsibilities include managing cost (Supply's & R&M), rig & crew performance, effective leadership of rig personnel, and maintaining our reputation of being best in class.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Works in a safe, healthy, and environmentally protective manner
  • Presents a positive attitude, always being a good mentor, coach and leader. Take pride in what you do daily, and your employees will follow.
  • Prevents incidents, by making safety a priority, developing a safety culture on the rig, observing and modifying any at-risk behavior or equipment. Getting out to location to check on job readiness and crew's competency.
  • Knows rig capabilities and limitations, regularly assessing and inspecting the rig and its performance.
  • Communicates well, takes time to teach each person, shares knowledge and skills, uses positive reinforcement and enforces personal accountability.
  • Reports all incidents, e.g. environmental, near misses and rig / equipment problems
  • Maintains relationships with rig personnel, immediate supervisors, company representatives, 3rd parties and the community with honesty, integrity, dignity, and respect.
  • Performs and delivers accurate rig inspections in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Verifies that a basic level of maintenance of on-site equipment is being performed.
  • Exercises clear and concise reporting of injuries and incidents related to or that may result in additional mechanical failures.
  • Demonstrates a basic mechanical understanding of draw works brakes, and the rig.
  • Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards.
  • Participates, trains and takes a leadership role in all safety programs, processes and requirements.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Supervisory responsibilities:
  • Direct reports may include Field Coordinators, Field Supervisors, Maintenance staff and administrative support staff
  • Builds, develops and manages operations team capable of carrying out needed service initiatives to the customer
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation and management of the direct reporting employees
  • Manages employee performance development and technical and non-technical training
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems of direct employees

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor degree preferred; Five (5) plus years related oilfield and management experience; or combination of education and experience in oil field services. Will consider 8+ years related oilfield and management experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience across multiple oil field service lines and geographies is a plus
  • Solid experience in rig execution, service delivery and crew scheduling
  • Proven experience of oil field equipment coordination and operational efficiency
  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to drive customer service delivery, with safety of our employees as a priority
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
