Profile Senior Project Engineer - EX Lead

Do you have oil & gas project experience and knowledge of EX compliance for equipment used in explosive atmospheres? Are you familiar with ATEX, IECEx, hazardous areas, and the importance of preventing ignition risks in offshore or industrial environments?

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer - EX Lead to coordinate EX compliance across engineering and procurement, construction, installation, inspection, and commissioning for complex oil & gas projects.

Tasks & responsibilities:



  • Manage EX compliance activities throughout the project lifecycle, from engineering and procurement to construction, installation, inspection, and commissioning.

  • Maintain and coordinate the Project EX Assurance Plan, Project EX Specification, EX matrix, dashboards, and related reporting tools.

  • Coordinate EX interfaces between engineering disciplines, supply chain, construction teams, suppliers, subcontractors, yards, and project stakeholders.

  • Review supplier, contractor, and yard documentation to ensure EX requirements are understood, included, and properly implemented.

  • Monitor EX compliance progress, risks, deficiencies, clarifications, and inspection findings through project matrices and dashboards.

  • Support bid evaluations and proposal reviews by ensuring EX requirements are properly considered in supplier, subcontractor, and yard submissions.

  • Coordinate with project procurement and construction teams to ensure EX requirements are reflected in contracts, exhibits, and technical documentation.

  • Oversee supplier EX compliance surveillance at project level and follow up on deficiencies or clarifications identified during project reviews.

  • Work with Construction Quality Managers and Site EX Leads to ensure EX requirements are incorporated into relevant construction and quality documents.

  • Support safe and compliant project execution by helping prevent unsafe installations or equipment that could create ignition risks in hazardous areas.

  • Manage technical and administrative project activities within agreed time, budget, quality, and project requirements.

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders and support planning, risk management, subcontracting, third-party relations, and contractual follow-up where required.


Requirements Senior Project Engineer - EX Lead

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.

  • At least 10 years of experience in project engineering within the oil & gas industry.

  • Strong experience with EX compliance, hazardous areas, or equipment for explosive atmospheres.

  • Knowledge of relevant EX standards and regulations, such as ATEX, IECEx, or comparable international standards.

  • Experience coordinating Ex compliance across engineering, procurement, supply chain, construction, installation, inspection, and commissioning phases.

  • Strong understanding of supplier, subcontractor, yard, and third-party coordination within complex project environments.

  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, supplier submissions, contractor documentation, inspection reports, matrices, dashboards, and compliance records.

  • Strong project coordination skills, with experience in planning, risk management, reporting, contract interfaces, and stakeholder follow-up.

  • Ability to identify and manage contractual changes, technical risks, compliance gaps, and project interfaces.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to align multidisciplinary teams and external parties.

  • Proficiency with project management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
