Occupational Therapist

An Occupational Therapist helps patients with physical impairments develop, regain or maintain their ability to perform daily activities through varying skills and techniques or using adaptive equipment.

LOCATION: Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Beacon

SHIFT: Per Diem, Days

RATE: $50.00/hour

JOB DESCRIPTION:

An Occupational Therapist helps patients with physical impairments develop, regain or maintain their ability to perform daily activities through varying skills and techniques or using adaptive equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducting physical and psychological assessments of clients and developing or following a treatment plan
  • Participate in family care plan meetings and educate caregivers and family members of clients on patient care
  • Evaluating patient condition regarding physical and primary mental health and evaluating results and progress of occupational therapy on patients
  • Consult and collaborate with other healthcare professionals regarding the patient
  • Demonstrate ability to work with senior residents
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • New York State Occupational Therapist licensure
  • Current CPR certification
  • Physical strength to lift between 50-100lbs
  • Able to collaborate with a wide range of health care disciplines, as well as offer insight to patient and family members
  • Possess thorough knowledge of the educational and therapeutic values of occupational therapy, as well as the procedures and principles of administration, organization, and management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
