#2367 - Senior Computer OperatorSupervise staff that monitors and controls the operation of data center equipment, monitors mission-critical customer systems and operates print equipment to provide 24/7 service to customer agencies in conformance with documented procedures. Create and monitor batch job scheduling/calendar packages for open systems and mainframes. Ensure official agency policies and procedures are observed and advise management of accomplishments and pending issues. Some positions require employees to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or compressed work shifts.
This position is on the Computer Operations Team in the Bureau of Operations Services within the Chief Information Office.
- Monitor system consoles and diagnostic tools and report alerts or failures to appropriate staff for resolution.
- Operate print and post-processing equipment for daily job output.
- Align and configure printers and related equipment.
- Follow security procedures for storage, transportation, utilization, disposition, and accountability of secure stock.
- Monitor Ricoh Process Director jobs and workflows.

For appointment to the Senior Computer Operator position you must have: A high school or high school equivalency diploma and one year of full-time experience in the operation of large scale/commercial printing equipment, a mainframe or medium to large server, multi-variable print production, or information technology related activities.
Competitive Qualifications: You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 56.2, 70.1 and or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
Transfer: For 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 transfer to a Senior Computer Operator, salary grade (SG)-14, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-12 or above.
Appointments via transfer must not result in second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.
