Job description

Position Summary
PDM US is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Automation Engineer to lead the design, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical and automation systems supporting our manufacturing operations.
This role will serve as the plant's technical expert for Siemens automation and controls systems, providing leadership for PLC programming, HMI development, drive systems, equipment integration, and capital projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Siemens PLCs, HMI platforms, industrial networking, and manufacturing automation. Similar Siemens senior engineering roles emphasize PLCs, industrial controls, automation systems, and electrical design expertise.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Serve as the site's primary subject matter expert for Siemens automation and control systems.
  • Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize Siemens PLC programs.
  • Support and maintain Siemens HMI, SCADA, and drive systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and automation issues affecting production equipment.
  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Design and review electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and one-line diagrams.
  • Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Develop and maintain automation standards and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Manage electrical and automation contractors as needed.
  • Provide technical coaching and training to maintenance and engineering personnel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, productivity, and quality.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of industrial electrical and automation engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Siemens automation platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Siemens S7 PLCs (S7-1200 and/or S7-1500).
  • Experience with Siemens WinCC HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Experience with Siemens SINAMICS drives and motor control systems.
  • Experience with PROFINET and industrial Ethernet communications.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA electrical safety requirements.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience in metal processing, extrusion, casting, wire and cable, copper manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
