Job description

About the role:
Backroads is a premium active travel company headquartered in Berkeley, CA, with operations across North America and Europe. We are seeking a Senior NetSuite Administrator with deep implementation experience to join our team during a critical phase of our NetSuite go-live. This is a hands-on, high-impact role working directly with our internal team and third-party implementation consultants to drive the project across the finish line and ensure long-term platform health.
The right candidate has been through a full NetSuite implementation before, knows where the landmines are, and can operate independently to configure, troubleshoot, and problem-solve without needing a lot of hand-holding.
What you'll be doing:
Implementation Support (Primary Focus)
  • Serve as a hands-on implementation contributor, working alongside our third-party consultants and internal IT team to advance the go-live roadmap
  • Troubleshoot configuration issues, data gaps, and integration failures as they arise across workstreams (AP automation, multi-entity/multi-book setup, journal entry integrations, and more)
  • Participate in UAT cycles, validate configuration against business requirements, and drive issues to resolution
  • Support data migration activities including data mapping, validation, cleansing, and cutover planning
  • Help identify risks, flag scope concerns, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Administration & Configuration
  • Own day-to-day NetSuite administration: roles and permissions, saved searches, workflows (SuiteFlow), custom forms, fields, and records
  • Configure and maintain AP and AR workflows, approval routing, and vendor management processes
  • Support multi-subsidiary and multi-book accounting architecture, including intercompany eliminations and consolidation
  • Manage the relationship with our third-party support vendor, coordinating and reviewing their work
Ongoing Platform Health
  • Provide user support, triage issues, and maintain system stability through and after go-live
  • Document configurations, workflows, and procedures to support knowledge transfer
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual workarounds, and optimize system performance
What you'll need to be successful:
  • NetSuite implementation experience: you have been through at least one full implementation from configuration through go-live, not just post-go-live administration
  • 7+ years of NetSuite administration experience with strong functional depth across Financials (GL, AP, AR), workflows, and reporting
  • Strong configuration and problem-solving skills: you are comfortable owning complex issues end-to-end and working through ambiguity
  • Data migration experience: mapping, validation, transformation, and cutover planning
  • Ability to work effectively with third-party consultants and vendors, holding them accountable to quality and timelines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical issues into business-friendly language for finance and operations stakeholders
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving project environment where priorities shift and you need to self-direct
  • SuiteScript experience: you do not need to build from scratch, but can read, troubleshoot, and make minor modifications to existing scripts
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-subsidiary NetSuite environments
  • Familiarity with AP automation, SFTP-based integrations, or third-party payment platforms
  • Experience in travel, hospitality, or other service-industry environments
  • Prior experience supporting a NetSuite environment alongside an Oracle or other ERP platform
Work Environment:
  • This is a full-time, contract or seasonal position, anticipated to end in December of 2026
  • On-site, Berkeley, CA (4 days in office, 1 day work from home)
