Mechanical Engineering Manager

Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: $150,000–$175,000

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to serve as the company’s senior mechanical engineering technical authority. This leader will oversee the mechanical engineering function, develop engineering standards, lead technical teams, and support major capital projects from concept through commissioning and startup.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience with both rotating and static equipment within chemical, petrochemical, refining, energy, or other process-intensive manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Mechanical Engineering team and technical subject matter experts.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for mechanical engineering decisions.
  • Establish mechanical engineering standards, specifications, design criteria, and best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout FEL/FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Review and approve engineering work performed by EPC firms, consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Support equipment selection, mechanical integrity, reliability, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
  • Standardize mechanical designs and equipment specifications for future plant deployments.
  • Partner with Process, Electrical, I&C, Operations, Reliability, Procurement, Construction, and Project Management teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering — Required
  • 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience within chemical processing, petrochemical, refining, specialty chemical, energy, advanced/process manufacturing, or a closely related industry
  • Significant experience with both rotating AND static equipment
  • Experience supporting large capital projects from concept/FEED through commissioning and startup
  • Experience leading mechanical engineering teams or engineering disciplines
  • Experience managing/reviewing work performed by EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and equipment vendors
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering standards and codes, including ASME and API
Equipment Experience

Rotating: Pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, turbines, mixers, gearboxes, and generators.

Static: Pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, reactors, columns, separators, and packaged process equipment.

Preferred
  • PE License
  • Experience developing engineering standards and specifications
  • Experience scaling or building engineering organizations
  • Technology commercialization or licensing experience
  • Recycling, petrochemical, renewable fuels, chemical/process manufacturing, or advanced technology experience
