Job description

JOIN A GLOBAL LEADER IN ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS
Airtech International is a worldwide leader in materials and applications used in the production of advanced composites. We are seeking a Senior Materials Engineer work with our internal technical teams to lead development and validation of high-performance engineered polymers for demanding applications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select raw material resins based on technical performance requirements for specific applications.
  • Assess technical performance, consistency, and suitability of candidate resins through laboratory and application testing.
  • Optimization of compounded formulas tailored to specific customer and application needs. Partner closely with the manufacturing group to scale formulations effectively from lab to production.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans to validate mechanical, thermal, chemical, and processing performance of compounded materials.
  • Analyze test data, document results, and iterate formulations to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of product manufacturing.
  • Provide clear technical guidance on material selection, processing parameters, and performance expectations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, application notes, and recommendations to support product adoption and customer success.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Production, Sales, and Purchasing on product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in polymer materials, compound formulation, materials engineering, or related roles in a manufacturing or advanced materials environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with polymer selection, resin evaluation, compound development, and materials testing (mechanical, thermal, chemical).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with manufacturing teams to scale formulations and resolve processing challenges.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Experience interfacing with customers and suppliers on technical material requirements is highly valued.

NICE TO HAVES:
  • Experience with engineering polymers used in additive manufacturing, advanced composites, or other high-performance applications.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and methods commonly used for polymer characterization (e.g., tensile testing, DSC/TGA, rheology, spectroscopy).
  • Prior involvement in market research or identification of new material opportunities.
