Detailed Job Description

The Senior Marine Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation of vessel machinery systems. This role plays a critical part in maintaining propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and supporting dry dock planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee operation and maintenance of main propulsion engines and auxiliary systems

  2. Execute planned maintenance using PMS (Planned Maintenance Systems)

  3. Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities onboard vessels

  4. Support and coordinate dry dock activities, inspections, and repairs

  5. Ensure compliance with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations

  6. Conduct machinery troubleshooting and root cause analysis

  7. Monitor fuel consumption and support energy efficiency initiatives

  8. Maintain accurate technical logs, reports, and maintenance documentation

  9. Supervise and mentor engine room crew members

  10. Participate in safety drills and emergency response preparedness

Requirements
  1. Minimum 8-12 years of experience in marine engineering onboard commercial vessels

  2. Experience working on Panamax or equivalent class vessels preferred

  3. Strong understanding of diesel propulsion systems and auxiliary machinery

  4. Experience handling engine room operations in multicultural crew environments

  5. Exposure to dry dock planning and execution

  6. Familiarity with maritime regulatory frameworks and audits

  7. Willingness to travel or sail as per operational requirements
