Job Description:

At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, you have the opportunity to join a team that manufactures the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. This flagship facility utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques and leverages research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio. As Saab continues to expand their team in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer who is interested in further developing knowledge in manufacturing technology. The Manufacturing/Tooling Engineering function will be responsible for technical tooling work from design, calculation, tooling preparation, documentation, and verification. The function is also accountable for tooling engineering development, tooling techniques, and qualification of new tools based on specific requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development of production systems and working methods, influencing the design work to achieve low production costs without compromising function, safety and quality.

  • Develop new technical solutions and contribute to the development of efficient production systems and assembly lines based on Lean principles.

  • Deploy advanced tooling options where they can be effectively leveraged.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely tooling resources are available for the operation, supported by processes to ensure tooling maintenance and calibration.

  • Drive continuous improvement for tooling resources and processes.

  • Consistently demonstrate support for the core Company values - trust, drive, expertise and support.

  • Work collaboratively with Swedish tooling resources to deliver tooling solutions

Compensation Range: $92,200-$115,300

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant tooling experience in a manufacturing environment; 10+ years relevant tooling experience and Aerostructures experience is preferred.

  • Driven, innovative and takes initiative

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Catia, SolidWorks, or similar modeling skills desirable

  • Ability to work well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to travel internationally

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
