Job Description:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will handle the monitoring and maintenance of technical aspects of the manufacturing process, looking at a variety of metrics gathered throughout the process. They will coordinate and integrate the manufacturing process, as well as analyze efficiency data and process flow. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer works with the manufacturing manager to ensure standards for manufacturing are maintained, as well as in developing new production methods and implementing new product processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of manufacturing systems with the focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of the production equipment.
  • Development of process documentation, including process stack sheets, process routings, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and error proofing plans.
  • Analysis of proposals for new machinery and equipment.
  • Lead the tryout and evaluation of new machinery and equipment.
  • Provide technical support to plant operations.
  • Develop and implement major Capital Appropriations Projects.
  • Development of cost estimates for new and major programs, often working from early concept cross sections, concept drawings, concurrent engineering discussions, and evolving assumptions.
  • Provides a physical presence in the workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience required.
  • High level of analytical ability.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including regular and effective communication across functions and with Senior Management.
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including The ability to work independently, and to coach and mentor others.
  • The ability to multitask.
  • The ability to consider business impact beyond a specific functional area.
  • The ability to provide relevant, essential technical guidance to support Senior Management.
  • CAD proficiency (preferably NX and/or AutoCAD).
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office.
  • An understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: Machining of rotating components, Machining of prismatic components, Machining of gears, Assembly.
  • An understanding of machine tool specifications, construction and maintenance, including the ability to document this knowledge in RFQ packages and Best Practice documents, and to participate in specification revisions.
  • Experience with statistical qualification of machinery, equipment, and gages, and the ability to improve and document our methods for completing these tasks.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in working effectively with hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Formal problem-solving training.
  • Familiarity with QS and TS quality systems requirements.
  • An understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Specific specialized skills, including CNC programming, CMM programming, nutrunner programming, robotic programming, ladder logic, etc.
  • An understanding of transmission fundamentals.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment in a non-US location, including mentoring and training of non-US people
  • Experience in implementation of major production launches (entire production lines or plants).
