Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Electrical Functional Engineering Senior Manager to lead a team of Electrical Engineers. The senior manager will oversee a team of approximately 70 engineers and managers in support of the Advanced Development Group (ADG) and Tactical Airborne Systems (TAS) divisions' products and program portfolio.

This role encompasses management and direct technical contribution for the hardware test development teams, spanning from development to the production launch for new products on projects and programs.  The successful candidate will have the technical knowledge capable of execution for new products, including fulfilment of project / program requirements as well as optimization of electrical processes .  Additionally, the individual will be accountable and partner with Division Chief Engineers to ensure that all functional engineering resources (people, process, tool) are appropriately deployed to support the execution and performance of all division products and programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with Division Chief Engineers to ensure comprehensive Electrical Engineering support across a multitude of programs, special projects, and emerging needs
  • Ensure allocation of resources is aligned with business priorities and identify solutions for the optimal utilization of resources
  • Optimize, harmonize, and standardize engineering execution through enhanced processes, tools, governance, and execution.
  • Establish strategic working relationships with engineering project managers as well as functional teams and technical leaders.
  • Provide leadership in the development of technical staff through strategic hiring, mentoring, and training.
  • Responsible for team coaching and development, as well as career counseling for each individual with performance evaluations and career discussions throughout the year.
  • Review and approve BOEs and other artifacts or deliverables for technical quality, process adherence and risk mitigation
  • Communicate needs/requirements/status to management and other engineering disciplines
  • Ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Management and leadership with a minimum of five (5) years experience in directly leading staff full lifecycle developments, including executing performance appraisals, managing staffing allocation, process leadership and career development.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization and support multiple geographically dispersed locations and teams.
  • Experience with product development process for defense environments, and tools that allow for development assessment, tracking, and reporting.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) metrics collection and reporting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in Data Analytics, to effectively influence tools and platforms for analysis of performance, measurement and configuration data. 
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders to include leadership and other engineering functions.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and build relationships within Engineering & Operations organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and sustain measurable results.
  • High expectations for sustained excellence for self and team members.
