Job Description
Manager Solutions Engineering is responsible for strategic technical execution and delivery for Corporate Technology Group (CTG) Distribution. The right individual for this role will have prior experience working on large scale projects with significant capability delivery experience utilizing a variety of project delivery methodologies, including Agile, Kanban and Waterfall.
• Works with the Distribution organization on small to large business strategy projects
• Assures alignment of development efforts and desired business goals and outcomes
• Provides technical level analysis, status and direction in collaboration with business analysts, project managers and technology/business leadership
• Manages relationships and strategic direction with multiple departments as well as making sure that day to day needs are addressed
• Influences Distribution technical direction and strategy with the business and technical teams
• Collaborates for alignment with other Solutions Engineering Managers on processes and direction
Qualifications
Competencies for Success/Requirements
• A Minimum of 3+ years of experience in technology management within the financial services industry.
• 8+ years of experience in business application development.
• Solid knowledge of Mutual Fund, Advisor, Sales & Asset Transactions, and CRM data
• Understanding of core analytics used as related to advisor fund data
• Excellent problem solving/analytical, solution design, facilitation, and organizational skills
• Familiarity with project initiation, budgeting, intake, reporting and change request processes
• Action-oriented individual with strong leadership and influencing skills, at all organizational levels, with internal and external clients and vendors
• High energy, positive attitude and strong relationship building skills
• Strong work ethic, intuitive self-starter, strategic thinker
Skill Set & Experience: Technical:
• Solid experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, SCM a plus
• Strong technical background and experience with SQL, business intelligence, reporting packages, ETL and data warehouse in an Oracle environment
• Extensive programming experience in varied technologies and languages
• Excellent working knowledge of data models and design, data warehousing concepts and implementation.
• Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) solutions a plus
• Experience with iSeries and DB2 a plus
• Hands-on participation on delivery team. Willing to play multiple roles within the team, including tech lead and a developer, simultaneously.
Management:
• Team champion for delivery team with ability and accountability to remove impediments and provide go-forward thought process for high performing teams
• Ability to actively drive definition of technical solutions that provide required business value for stakeholders and translate to fast-paced solutions and deliverables
• Manage execution of project portfolio items aligned with the overall enterprise strategy and goals
• Previous experience successfully managing geographically diverse teams composed of both employees and external resources
• Ability to interface and align effectively with senior management, clients, and vendors
• Ability to prioritize multiple day to day activities and complex projects simultaneously
• Works closely with project management, product owners, Business Analysts, architects and technical resources
• Innovate and challenge business/technical processes and solutions with compelling solutions
• Drive teams to deliver business outcomes and hold self and the teams accountable to deliver results,
• Manages teams through influence rather than absolute authority, applying business judgment to overcome challenges and conflicts, and present recommendations, dependencies, issues and risks to executive stakeholders and project team members for transparency
• Handle day to day operational questions/issues from the business and technical teams, providing permanent resolutions to root cause analysis
