Job description

Pay Range: $20.00-$24.00 (Pay information will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position)
Full Time 40 Hours Monday-Friday Days with on call every 4 weeks

GENERAL SCOPE:  The Mechanic is responsible for assisting with general maintenance, minor repairs, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems within the independent and assisted living community. This role supports the overall facility operations by ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff. The Mechanic works under the direction of senior maintenance personnel and supervisors to perform routine tasks and preventative maintenance.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION: High school or trade school diploma with courses in mechanical, carpentry and electrical preferred.  Must have a current, valid NYS driver license.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and facility equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and report them to the Mechanic II or Facilities Supervisor.
  • Assist with basic carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
  • Support emergency maintenance needs under supervision.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in an organized and functional manner.
  • Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with facility maintenance guidelines.
  • Provide assistance in setting up and maintaining resident safety equipment, such as handrails and accessibility features.
  • Work collaboratively with senior mechanics and facility staff to ensure efficient facility operations.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance, facility maintenance, or a related field.
