Job description

Day Shift: Salary: $91,723 - $132,230. Benefits on Day 1

About the Job 
This position is responsible for planning, directing and controlling the efforts of the Maintenance Department required to sustain the safe and efficient operation of multiple recycling equipment and facilities while ensuring exceptional engineering practices.

The facility is one of the most technologically advanced recycling operations in North America, featuring 90% automated processes, cutting-edge optical sorting technology, and fully integrated systems that enable plant-wide management through tablet-based controls within a modern, state-of-the-art environment.
What You'll be Doing
 

  • Manages and executes the preventative maintenance program and maintenance of equipment and facilities to effectively reduce unscheduled down time.
  • Direct leadership of maintenance team and other staff that may include contractors, consultants, and/or temporary employees.
  • Develops, maintains and administers an organization qualified to maintain all equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient working condition.
  • Coordinates maintenance tasks between operations, maintenance team and commercial venders to minimize down time.
  • Performs plant inspections for safety, maintenance and process improvement opportunities. Generate work requests from findings of maintenance inspections.
  • Conduct weekly maintenance operations meetings to insure all safety and mechanical issues are addressed in a timely manner. Perform safety related inspections and lead safety training for maintenance staff.
  • Works with district/site management on cost studies for equipment and facilities to reduce operating costs. Consults with departments regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and maintenance.
  • Analyzes cost studies of proposals for new facilities and equipment in the department designed to reduce operating costs. Make recommendations to the Plant Manager.
  • Compile and analyze reports to plan and assign tasks to the maintenance team for upcoming PM inspections & work requests.
  • Manage department financials, maintenance budget and spend. Control labor costs. Generate monthly financial reports for the site Controller.
  • Plans and provides for an adequate supply and ensures control over spare parts and maintenance supplies. Orders parts and supplies utilizing maintenance database and corporate purchasing program.
  • Audits all completed Work Orders to insure all parts, labor and commercial venders are charged out correctly to the unit
  • Build a good working relationship with all vendors to insure materials, supplies and third party repairs are delivered and accomplished to WM standards
  • Attend and participate in all required financial, operation, safety and maintenance meetings.
  • Responsible for hiring, on-going staff development, performance reviews and employee coaching and discipline.
  • Coordinates and oversees the efficient maintenance of all plant transportation equipment.
  • Develops objectives and standards of performance for projects within the maintenance department required to meet departmental, divisional and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

    What does it take to be a Sr Plant Maintenance Manager with WM?
    A. Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma GED (accredited)
  • Four additional years of relevant work experience
  • 7 years previous experience in engineering or maintenance of equipment and facilities (in addition to education requirements)

Pay: The expected base pay range for this onsite position is $91,723 - $132.230 This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
