Job Title: Materials Manager

 

Department: Materials         

Reports To: General Manager          

FLSA Status: Salary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Materials Manager’s primary responsibilities include the supervision of all Production Control Personnel, plant capacity planning, resource scheduling, department policy and procedure, and meeting customer delivery requirements. The Materials Manager has the authority to supervise and delegate responsibility within the Production Control Department, authorize premium transportation and other expenditures for behind schedule conditions, add, update or change department policy and procedure for continuous improvement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

·         Supervise and delegate authority within the Production Control Department.

·         Meeting or exceeding established customer delivery requirements.

·         Maintenance of production control data base information (customer files, carriers, containers, inventory, etc.).

·         Warehousing cleanliness and organization.

·         Plant capacity planning.

·         Production resource scheduling.

·         Department policies and procedures.

·         Monthly reporting to senior management.

·         Develop and maintain a cost reduction strategy which achieves a 3% cost reduction to standard cost on an annual basis.

·         Active participant in the APQP Process, understanding incoming tooling timing, coordinate data readiness (both entry and related data), material readiness

·         CMS MRP/ERP data accuracy. Insure accuracy of incoming releases, inventory, and materials.

·         Maintain a vendor rating system in compliance of IATF 16949

·         Develop a plant pull system analysis. Shipping, Finished Goods, Painting, Molding, Incoming Materials. Utilize Kan Ban where appropriate.

·         Sales Forecasting. Both Monthly and Long Term.

·         Overall Lean Implementation.

·         Follows all safety, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures.

·         Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and assignments as required.

·         ISO 14001 awareness training.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelors Degree and/or six (6) years of progressive material control responsibility in an automotive supplier environment.

·         Training in computer information systems and Microsoft Office.

·         Material requirements planning (MRP) training.

·         Minimum six (6) years - subordinate supervision experience.

·         Minimum three (3) years - warehousing operations management experience.

·         Minimum three (3) years - production scheduling experience.

·         Minimum two (2) years - perpetual inventory management experience.

·         Minimum two (2) years - computer experience including Microsoft Office.

·         Minimum two (2) years - customer relations experience.

The Materials Manager shall have direct working knowledge of the following:

·         Familiar with IATF 16949 policies and procedures and work instructions.

·         Inventory Control procedures.

·         Automotive Industry.

·         Resource capacity planning.

·         Production Scheduling.

·         Warehouse Organization.

·         Material Requirements Planning.

·         JIT.
