Compensation
The base hourly rate for this position is $19.02.
Shift: This position will rotate days and nights. One week of days, one week of nights, continued in that pattern.
This is a production position working to finish and package quality product as well as ensure correct labeling of packaging. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions, according to established operating procedures, performs the following duties while cooperating with all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance and Protection:
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements

  • Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following: protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator

  • Must know, understand, and perform all plant and departmental safety regulations and procedures and immediately reports any hazardous conditions

  • Performs safety observations and complete training assignments

  • Must know and understand company policies, regulations, and procedures regarding employee conduct and attendance

  • Excellent attendance, attitude, and motivation must be demonstrated to advance to the next level

  • Responsible for operating in conformance with the ISO certification held by the Ruston facility

  • Read and use a tape measure

  • Most duties are performed under direct supervision or while shadowing and Operator II

When Assigned to Ovens
  • Works under the direct supervision of Plant Superintendent with direction from oven lead and is responsible for the following duties

  • Required to read weight chart and record weight of product

  • Off-load product from all cars

  • Understand and recognize various product sized

  • Other duties as assigned

When Assigned to Finishing Area
  • Works under the direct supervision of Plant Superintendent with direction from Finishing Senior Lead, and is responsible for the following duties

  • Rotate between multiple areas in the Finishing Department while shadowing a higher-level Operator

  • Inspects product for squareness and web thickness on block

  • This position tends machines that perform one or more finishing or packaging functions

  • Starts and stops machines and observes operation to detect malfunctions and reports malfunctions to supervisor

  • Inspects products for off-center cores

  • Performs work order assignments

  • Follows correct palletizing pattern

  • Understand conforming and non-conforming product

  • Safely and correctly load the V-Flight and set up the floor at the V-Flight

  • Safely operate all saws in the Block Area

  • Under the direction of an experienced operator identify and segregate product for re-work material; sort, cut, and glue re-work material and ensure product is packaged according to packaging standards

  • Count and record finished product

  • Other duties as assigned

The employee must frequently, lift, push or pull 25 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection and in certain areas may be required to where dust masks, gloves, respirators, or head protection.
