Scope of Responsibility:

Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Lead, the Machine Operator C is responsible for performing a variety of tasks including cutting, layout, punching, bending, drilling, and stamping materials according to shop drawings. The operator will also be accountable for reporting time to operations through the use of software.

Essential Duties:

  • Review shop drawings, specifications (if provided), and work orders to determine the sequence of operations.
  • Perform cutting, layout, punching, bending, drilling, and stamping of materials with minimal defects, ensuring adherence to shop drawings.
  • Change or replace tooling and consumables on machines as required.
  • Ensure proper machine setup to prevent damage and maintain efficiency.
  • Load programs, including nesting summaries, into machines for operation.
  • Follow work instructions to prepare items for processing.
  • Log in and out of the Epicor computer system to report run time and quantities.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Operate overhead cranes, gantries, forklifts, and combi lifts to move materials safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and contribute to overall housekeeping efforts.
  • Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety, quality, organization, and cleanliness standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive work atmosphere.
  • Report for work on time and fulfill your shift responsibilities as planned.
  • Complete all responsibilities during your assigned shift as outlined in the schedule
  • Engage respectfully with coworkers, fostering teamwork and mutual respect.

Position Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in an operational environment.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Ability to read and understand measurements to 1/16 inch or metric dimensions using a tape measure.
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, and communicating effectively in English.
  • Strong capability to read blueprints, interpret safety instructions, and understand operating procedures and manuals.
  • Ability to complete Machine Operator C certification and operate overhead cranes and gantries safely.
  • Ability to complete forklift certification (5k or 6k forklifts, combi lifts) and operate equipment safely.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, frequently exerting 30 pounds of force.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Capable of performing physical activities that involve the use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and handling materials.
  • Requires manual dexterity, the ability to pick/pinch, repetitive hand/wrist/finger movements, and steady arm-hand coordination, with a focus on safety.
  • Ability to operate equipment using foot pedals.
  • Must be able to work in an open environment, including long shifts (weekends included), with exposure to extreme temperatures and standing for extended periods.
  • Must meet commercial driver vision testing requirements.
