Senior Localization Engineers are professionals who specialize in adapting software, websites, or digital content for different languages and regions. They are responsible for managing the technical aspects of localization, such as integrating translation workflows, automating processes, and ensuring compatibility with various languages and scripts. Senior Localization Engineers often collaborate with developers, translators, and project managers to streamline localization projects and solve complex technical challenges. Their expertise helps ensure that products are accessible and user-friendly for global audiences.

What are some common challenges senior localization engineers face when managing multilingual software projects?

Senior Localization Engineers often encounter challenges such as maintaining consistency across multiple language versions, handling complex file formats, and integrating localization workflows into fast-paced development cycles. They must also ensure that translations are contextually accurate and culturally appropriate, which requires close collaboration with translators, developers, and QA teams. Staying up-to-date with localization technologies and troubleshooting technical issues related to character encoding or automated processes are also key aspects of the role.

Job Title

Sr Full Stack Engineer

About your role:

To accelerate our leadership in the point-of-sale (POS), retail tech, and financial technology sectors, Clover is aggressively expanding our digital omni-commerce capabilities. As a Full Stack Software Development Engineering - Advisor I, you will serve as a critical technical driver in building our next-generation website, storefront, and seamless checkout experiences. This vital role directly supports our 2026 strategic objectives to accelerate international expansions across APAC, Japan, and the EU, eliminate backend dependencies to maximize feature velocity, and pioneer AI-driven agentic commerce integrations.

What you'll do:

  • Full Stack Product Delivery: Architect, build, and deploy high-performance e-commerce storefronts, secure checkout flows, and omni-channel retail merchant integrations (linking digital storefronts with brick-and-mortar retail systems).
  • Frontend Excellence: Develop responsive, SEO-friendly, and accessible user interfaces using React.js and Next.js, optimizing for Core Web Vitals and seamless user experiences.
  • Backend & API Architecture: Design and implement highly available, secure microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate to reduce cross-team dependencies and maximize feature delivery velocity for retail business logic.
  • Database & Infrastructure: Model complex commerce data (such as real-time retail inventory management, product catalogs, and order management systems) using MongoDB and MySQL, while deploying and scaling localized microservices using Kubernetes and Docker on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Internationalization (i18n): Build resilient systems capable of supporting multi-region scalability, localization, and regional compliance for seamless multi-region traffic handling.
  • AI Integration & Adoption: Actively utilize AI-assisted developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT) to accelerate coding velocity, and design backend architectures capable of supporting smart product recommendations and agentic commerce integrations.
  • Mentorship & Quality: Lead code reviews, define architectural standards, and mentor mid-level/junior engineers to foster a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • Core Experience: 5-8+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable, enterprise-grade web applications.
  • Domain Expertise: Proven professional experience working within the Retail domain, with a strong technical grasp of retail workflows, inventory synchronization, order management, or point-of-sale dynamics.
  • Frontend: Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js, and Next.js (SSR, SSG, and CSR strategies).
  • Backend: Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Security) alongside ORM experience with Hibernate.
  • Databases: Hands-on experience with both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Experience designing and deploying microservices on GCP (or AWS) using Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to integrate AI into daily development workflows to increase productivity, with a strong foundational understanding of LLMs and AI integrations.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Previous experience in Fintech, POS, or E-commerce platforms (direct familiarity with competing platforms like Shopify, Toast, Stripe, etc., is a massive plus).
  • Experience building software for global markets, including managing the complexities of global tax, currency conversion, and localization.
  • Deep understanding of web security, PCI compliance, and secure payment processing workflows.

Interview & Selection Process:

  • In-Person Technical Assessment: Because this role requires daily on-site collaboration at our office, the interview loop includes an in-person technical interview and live coding session at our local campus.
  • Identity Verification: Candidates invited to interview must present a valid government-issued photo ID prior to entering our facility and commencing technical evaluations.

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
  • This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.

Benefits at Fiserv:

  • Fuel Your Life program to support your physical, financial, social, and emotional well-being
  • Paid holidays and generous time away policies
  • No-cost mental health support through Employee Assistance Programs
  • Living Proof program to recognize your peers' extra effort with points redeemable for rewards
  • Eight Employee Resource Groups to foster a collaborative culture and expand your network
  • Unparalleled professional growth with training, development, and internal mobility opportunities
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options available from day one
  • Retirement planning and discounted shares with the Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Tuition assistance and reimbursement program
  • Paid parental, caregiver, and military leave
