Job Title: Senior Legal Billing Coordinator

Location: Chicago, IL

Pay Range: $105K-$110K (Based on experience & qualifications)

Role Overview:

Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in the search for an experienced Senior Legal Billing Coordinator for our client headquartered in Chicago, IL. Our client is a highly respected, nationally recognized law firm with over a century of history and a reputation for excellence in the financial services industry. They are seeking an experienced legal billing professional to join their collaborative team on a direct hire basis due to an upcoming retirement and continued growth within the department.


Qualified candidates will possess legal billing experience, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The hiring manager is actively interviewing and looking to move quickly.


Senior Legal Billing Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Manage the complete billing and collections cycle for an assigned portfolio of legal matters.
  • Review attorney rates, fee arrangements, billing guidelines, budgets, fee caps, and discounts for accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate the prebill through final bill process while ensuring timely submission of invoices and eBills.
  • Monitor invoice approvals, billing status, collections, and payment activity while communicating updates to attorneys and clients.
  • Review and resolve eBilling rejections, discrepancies, and client billing issues.
  • Prepare monthly billing forecasts, accrual reports, ad hoc reports, and portfolio aging reports.
  • Process write-offs, write-downs, time transfers, and billing adjustments in accordance with firm policies.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, finance staff, and clients to ensure timely and accurate billing.
  • Train billing team members on new billing functionality, policies, and client requirements.
  • Recommend process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the billing department.


Senior Legal Billing Coordinator Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of legal billing experience required.
  • Prior experience managing the full billing lifecycle within a law firm environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic billing platforms and eBilling processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with existing Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Experience with Aderant is REQUIRED
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across attorneys, clients, and internal departments.
