SR. TECHNICIAN - TECHNICIAN - Laboratory Sample Preparation 01-01812 Who We Are: We are the analytical testing laboratory within the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Department. We perform a wide variety of regulatory and custom organic, inorganic and radiochemistry testing on water, air, soil, oil and industrial products utilizing scientific instrumentation (e.g. ICP, ICPMS, GCMS, LCMS, IC, Alpha Spectrometry, Gamma Spectrometry) and bench chemistry techniques. By joining our team, you will receive an additional $500 in your first paycheck, minus taxes. Objectives of this Role: Provide sample preparation support for the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry department. Perform sample preparations, namely digestions and extractions, under a variety of regulated programs and a variety of sample matrices. Preparation of standards and reagents with accuracy and precision. Attention to detail and strict adherence to safety protocols. Must communicate well with lab supervisor and project managers to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met. Must be able to provide training to others once procedures are mastered. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Use of analytical balances and various volumetric measurement glassware to include graduated cylinders, pipettes, syringes. Glassware and equipment sanitation. Preparation techniques requiring physical activity, i.e.acid digestions, chemical separations. Record keeping of laboratory procedures in electronic notebooks and LIMS. Read and follow instructions with minimal supervision. Attention to detail and maintain complete laboratory records. Schedule tasks to meet a number of concurrent projects. Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years: Experience in a lab environment. 0-2 years: Familiarity with environmental test methods.
