Job description

Position Overview

Senior Software Engineer role within Collins Aerospaceโ€™s Mission Systems team. Responsibilities include design, development, integration, testing, deployment and sustainment of software solutions supporting aerospace and defense missions. Eligible locations: Cedar Rapids, IA; Fort Wayne, IN; Richardson, TX; Largo, FL.

What You Will Do
  • Develop, implement, and support software solutions across a variety of mission areas.
  • Execute software engineering activities throughout the software lifecycle: requirements analysis, architecture, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, modernization, sustainment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, customers and stakeholders to define requirements and solve technical challenges.
  • Support the development of scalable, maintainable, reusable, and secure software solutions.
  • Contribute to system integration, verification, validation, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance or mentorship to less experienced engineers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in software development using C/C++, Java, or similar languages, or 5 years with an advanced degree in a STEM field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. governmentโ€‘issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Experience with Linux, embedded software, realโ€‘time operating systems, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, Agile development methodologies, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure software development practices, and software assurance methodologies.
  • Experience supporting technical domains such as mission systems, communications systems, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, and software modernization.
Preferred
  • Active or transferable Secret or Top Secret U.S. governmentโ€‘issued security clearance.
  • Experience with system integration, verification and validation, and technical domains relevant to aerospace and defense.
