Job description

As a Software Engineer Senior within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL or Denver, CO.
Preferred Skills:
Strong proficiency in Java backend development, with deep experience using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud to build enterprise-grade, production-ready APIs.
Extensive experience designing and developing microservices architectures, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, resilience patterns, and backward-compatible API versioning.
Hands-on experience deploying and running microservices on OpenShift/Kubernetes, including containerization (Docker), configuration management, scaling, and environment-specific deployments (DEV, QA, UAT, PROD).
Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles, including contract-first development, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, proper HTTP semantics, and standardized error handling.
Experience integrating backend APIs with mobile platforms (iOS and Android), ensuring performance, reliability, and secure data exchange for customer-facing mobile applications.
Strong knowledge of API security, including OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS, client credentials, token management, and secure access patterns required in regulated banking environments.
Familiarity with API gateways and edge services, such as routing, throttling, authentication, logging, and monitoring of mobile-facing APIs.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Java microservices, including automated builds, testing, quality gates, and deployment to OpenShift.
Proven ability to support APIs through the full lifecycle, from development and testing through production releases, post-deployment monitoring, and defect remediation.
Experience working in large-scale enterprise and financial systems, with awareness of compliance, audit requirements, and high-availability expectations.
