Job description

About the Company

Over a decade ago, lifelong friends Ray Carnes and Ron Cundy developed a dream. Inspired by the idea of eating better, spending more time with loved ones, and doing the things they love to do, they set out to develop the highest-quality wood pellet grills on the market. Thanks to the flavor, convenience, and versatility provided by their grills, that dream has flourished. Now, offering more than just grills, recteq has grown to become a multi-faceted lifestyle brand with an expanding line of outdoor products. With its new trademarked identity and armed with the same commitment to quality that has brought such success, the recteq dream is now positioned to endure, allowing future generations to spend more time with the people they love, enjoying the things they love to do.

Overview

recteq is seeking a Senior Designer to elevate the creative quality and execution of our visual content across digital, social, retail, and brand channels. This is a senior individual contributor role that reports to the Creative Director and works closely with marketing partners and the broader creative team.

This role is for a designer with strong creative instincts, refined taste, and hands-on execution skills—someone who can take a creative brief from idea to finished campaign assets with minimal oversight. While creative direction and brand guidelines are well established, this role is expected to bring thoughtful execution, problem-solving, and occasional original concepts as the brand continues to mature and evolve.

Core design and layout execution are the primary focus of this role. Additional support in areas such as video editing, illustration, or production may be required depending on campaign needs, but these are situational rather than defining responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Creative Execution (Primary Focus)

  • Lead the execution of high-impact creative across digital, social, retail, and brand touchpoints
  • Own creative projects from brief through final delivery, independently managing timelines, assets, and deliverables
  • Translate creative direction, briefs, and campaign concepts into polished, on-brand creative
  • Execute work with a high level of craft across layout, typography, color, and composition
  • Maintain and uphold established brand standards while identifying opportunities for incremental improvement
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality work that raises the overall creative bar

Campaign Ownership & Problem Solving

  • Proactively gather information, content, and assets from marketing and creative partners to complete campaign creative
  • Seek out solutions to challenges as they arise rather than waiting for direction
  • Balance attention to detail with efficiency across both planned campaign work and fast-turn requests

Illustration & Visual Craft (As Needed)

  • Produce custom illustrations, graphics, iconography, or visual treatments when campaign needs call for it
  • Apply strong visual storytelling principles to support marketing and brand initiatives
  • Develop visual systems and assets that scale across channels and formats

Design Support Across Channels

  • Provide occasional support for short-form and long-form video editing when needed, in collaboration with videographers
  • Assist with photo editing, retouching, and asset preparation as required to support campaigns
  • Provide creative input during photo shoots to ensure assets align with creative direction
  • Support consistency and quality across all visual assets

Collaboration & Team Contribution

  • Work closely with the Creative Director to execute creative vision and priorities
  • Collaborate daily with marketing partners to align creative outputs with campaign goals and timelines
  • Occasionally present work to stakeholders, typically with support from the Creative Director
  • Mentor and cross-train junior designers and other team members through collaboration, feedback, and example
  • Balance creativity with production realities, deadlines, and feedback
  • Stay current on design trends, tools, and best practices relevant to brand and marketing design

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of professional experience in graphic or brand design
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating senior-level design craft, visual storytelling, and campaign execution
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Deep understanding of typography, layout, composition, and brand systems
  • Ability to independently execute work from brief through final delivery, proactively solving problems and driving projects forward
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with DTC, retail, or product-driven brands
  • Familiarity with video editing workflows or motion graphics (DaVinci Resolve preferred)
  • Experience collaborating closely with photographers and videographers
  • Experience working on a fast-paced, in-house creative team

Role Expectations

  • This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports
  • The position is intended as a long-term, hands-on design role
  • Success in this role is defined by craft quality, reliability, independent ownership, and positive impact on team efficiency and brand consistency

Compensation

  • Based on experience
  • Competitive benefits package
  • Opportunity to shape and elevate the creative quality of the brand
