Job description

As a Technology Operational Risk Management Director in Risk Management and Compliance, you will lead second line of defense oversight of technology and cybersecurity/technology operational risk for Commercial and Investment Bank Markets lines of business, advising senior technology leaders, and supporting the firm's modernization and transformation to modern engineering practices. You will evaluate risk posture against multi-year modernization roadmaps (e.g., cloud and platform modernization), Agentic AI adoption and proactively review change activity, define risk responses, and act as a trusted risk advisor influencing executive decisions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the risk lead for technology and cybersecurity technology areas
  • Evaluate risk posture and assess alignment to modernization strategies/roadmaps (e.g., cloud adoption, platform modernization). 
  • Shape technology and cyber risk strategy with senior tech and digital leaders
  • Identify technology operational risks stemming from events/incidents impacting operations (including disruption of CIB markets operations where applicable).
  • Identify operational risks from large and/or impactful change activities.
  • Work side by side with  first line control implementation and execution.
  • Provide leadership across a matrixed organization, influencing priorities and outcomes beyond traditional boundaries.
  • Build and maintain strategic executive relationships across the firm and with key external partners (e.g., suppliers, industry groups). 
  • Act as executive sponsor/trusted advisor to develop technology risk capabilities, including talent/workforce strategy and control maturity
  • Develop and execute an oversight plan for Global Markets Technology

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 10+ years of senior IT leadership experience across application development, infrastructure, and/or cybersecurity with strong engineering background.
  • Proven ability to influence/advise senior technology executives and operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
  • Significant experience architecting and delivering large, complex solutions, including public and/or private cloud architectures (ie. AWS/GCP/Azure).
  • Ability to translate business strategy into investable technical roadmaps using enterprise architecture principles. 
  • Strong commercial and vendor management experience with external partners/suppliers. 
  • Strong understanding of application testing, quality control, change and release management
  • Familiarity with strategic development tools (e.g., JIRA, Jenkins, Artifactory). 
  • Experience with ITSM/ITIL, with focus on engineering processes.
  • Expertise in resiliency and observability patterns supporting large-scale systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical topics into business decisions.
