We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Rumford team. This role is critical in ensuring environmental compliance while advancing sustainability initiatives across our operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all work is executed safely and in compliance with company standards 
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and evaluate regulatory changes for operational impact 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems to enhance compliance, sustainability, and operational efficiency 
  • Lead environmental projects including waste management, air and water quality improvements, and pollution control initiatives 
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, including resource conservation, energy efficiency, and reduction of environmental impact 
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operations on environmental engineering matters and best practices 
  • Develop and deliver training programs to promote environmental awareness and compliance across the organization 
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, environmental groups, and community stakeholders 
  • Prepare and manage regulatory reporting, permits, and licenses 
  • Support chemical approval processes and product stewardship programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field 
  • 5 plus years of environmental engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role 
  • Experience in paper manufacturing or industrial environments strongly preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA) 
  • Experience with environmental management systems and related software 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills 
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive environmental and sustainability initiatives
