What does a senior insurance data analytics professional do?

A Senior Insurance Data Analytics professional analyzes large datasets to help insurance companies make informed decisions about risk, pricing, claims, and customer behavior. They use statistical methods, data modeling, and business intelligence tools to uncover trends and insights that can improve operational efficiency and profitability. In addition to interpreting complex data, they often collaborate with other departments to develop data-driven strategies and may oversee or mentor junior analysts within the team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior insurance data analytics professional?

To thrive as a Senior Insurance Data Analytics professional, you need a strong background in statistics, data analysis, and domain knowledge of insurance, often supported by a degree in mathematics, statistics, or a related field. Expertise in data analytics tools such as SQL, Python, R, and experience with business intelligence platforms like Tableau or Power BI are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex insights clearly set top performers apart in this role. These skills are crucial for driving data-driven decision-making, identifying business opportunities, and improving risk assessment and operational efficiency within insurance organizations.

Job description

At Tive , we imagine a fully-transparent world in which everything and everyone is connected. We innovate beyond what the world thought possible—so what people hold near and dear arrives on time and in full.

We believe (and live!) four core values:

  • Transparency First: We make everything visible so that everyone can operate better
  • Always strive to make things simpler
  • We are One Team, we have each other's backs
  • Relentless iteration to optimize and improve

Whether shipped by road, rail, ocean, or air, Tive reduces shipment delays, minimizes rejected loads, and decreases theft, damage, and spoilage. Our customers count on Tive to ensure that their shipments are delivered on time and in full—because every shipment matters.

As a Senior Data Analyst at Tive, you will use your considerable experience to help lead Tive into its next phase of growth. One of Tive's primary focus areas for the next few years is on delivering actionable insights both to our customers and across our internal teams, spanning product, operations, and commercial functions. As a senior member of Tive's global Data Team, you will be responsible for developing customer-facing analytics products that illuminate supply chain health and shipment performance, while also building and maintaining the internal dashboards and data models that drive strategic decision-making across the business. The role will require significant experience and confidence in data analytics, SQL, and statistics. We are looking for someone already skilled at analyzing complex data, asking the right questions, and validating their own work, as well as being capable of contributing to peer reviews and quality analysis of work produced by other team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create advanced SQL models that can be incorporated into the data transformation pipeline that feeds Tive’s customer-facing analytics products
  • Design and optimize embedded dashboards and reporting solutions using data visualization tools.
  • Be a vocal and active participant in Data Analytics team meetings including solutioning sessions and sprint planning.
  • Help the analytics team to prioritize work and groom Jira tickets in a way that allows their work velocity to be predictable.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process improvements in team workflows
  • Present complex findings in a clear and actionable manner to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to‑date on industry trends and new technologies in data analytics
Our ideal candidate has:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science / Data Analytics or a related field.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in data analytics
  • Proficiency in one or more data visualization tools (e.g., Sigma, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Familiarity with Agile workflows including ceremony requirements and tools (e.g., Jira) used to manage such workflow.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business recommendations.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with DBT is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite and/or Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience in supply chain monitoring, optimization, and analysis is a plus.
Compensation:

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

What does Tive offer?
  • A chance to join what may very well turn out to be the most important company in your career.
  • The autonomy and resources to build what you know how to build.
  • Work with a committed global team that have each others back.
  • Office-based or hybrid options. Your choice.
  • Competitive equity to ensure all of our employees have a sense of ownership in the long-term success of Tive’s growth.

We celebrate diversity, and consider it key to our success as both a team and a company. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment of mutual respect for all employees.
