Job description

Our Plano, TX- based client is hiring a Senior Innovation Product Manager to play a pivotal role in building a new employee benefits business from the ground up. This is a true zero-to-one opportunity. You’ll lead early-stage discovery and definition work—researching the market, validating customer needs, shaping product concepts, and helping determine what this business should become. In close partnership with a senior business leader, you’ll help shape and validate the foundation of a new employee benefits offering.

This is a direct-hire position working on-site in Plano, TX, with 35 days of remote work per year.

COMP: Up to $186K OTE

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Partner with senior business leadership to research, define, and evaluate potential employee benefits products and services
  • Conduct market & competitive research to assess target segments, customer needs & overall opportunity size
  • Lead customer & client discovery efforts, including interview planning, synthesis & identification of unmet needs
  • Translate research into clear problem statements, product concepts, and early solution direction
  • Build and maintain a structured product roadmap and backlog, including MVP and future-state concepts
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design, prototype, and test early-stage solutions
  • Evaluate and recommend vendors and technology platforms required to support a benefits brokerage business
  • Define and document high-level data, reporting, and BI requirements to support future execution
  • Identify key risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs across product, operating model, technology, and data
  • Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to enable informed planning and decision-making
  • Prepare clear, concise, and well-structured materials for executive review and discussion

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degrees or certifications (AIPMM, Pragmatic Institute, IDEO, etc.) are a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, strategy, or innovation roles—ideally within regulated industries such as employee benefits, insurance, or healthcare
  • 2+ years of experience in the employee benefits ecosystem (e.g., carriers, brokers, vendors, consultants, or employers)
  • Proven success leading early-stage, ambiguous, or zero-to-one initiatives, particularly in B2B or services-based products
  • Strong ability to turn market research, customer insights, and business analysis into clear product direction and leadership-ready documentation
  • Experience building product roadmaps, backlogs, and requirements for complex, regulated offerings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially with executive audiences
