Job description

General Purpose:
To streamline the production of plastic parts by ensuring that the tools (injection molds) and dies (various fixtures) are maintained/repaired according to set specifications.
Shift(s) Available:
  • 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM) Monday through Friday

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Conversion, repair, and adjustment of injection molding tools and fixtures
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of injection molding tools and others (i.e. end of arm tooling, assembly fixtures, etc.). Including complete assembly/ disassembly and inspection.
  • Performs routine mold cleaning/polishing. Aids in light maintenance in conjunction with the machine maintenance group.
  • Inspects and anticipates issues with molds by working closely with production and Quality Control
  • Helps process technicians with setting up molds and automation according with best industry practices.
  • Performs adjustments to end of arm tooling and pick/place robots as needed.
  • Is responsible for the documentation of mold usage and repairs/maintenance cycles (accurate and complete).
  • Maintains an elevated level of safety and cleanliness in the manufacturing area.
  • Communicates with shift supervisor and/or process technician /machine adjuster's potential issues that could affect product quality and/or safety including equipment and product issues.
  • Must be present in regular attendance.
  • Effectively follows up on ongoing projects and communicates accordingly.
  • Assists in implementing new models and program updates.
  • Maintains and promotes all 5S activities and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient in the use of manual Milling Machines, OD / ID Grinders, Surface Grinders, and Lathes.
  • Competent in Blueprint reading, sketching and calculating dimensions
  • Able to use common measuring devices such as Calipers, Micrometers, Micro height, Pin and Block gauges.as well as other various gauges used for part measurements.
  • Must communicate effectively by both email and phone with external contractors and services for resolving issues with tooling.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Consistent attendance

Flexible work schedule.
Work Environment:
The work environment in a clean fast paced environment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee can occasionally be exposed to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical machinery, fumes and airborne particles and unpleasant odors. The noise level can be moderate to high at times.
