Overview
Are you passionate about modernizing infrastructure, improving how teams collaborate, and bringing forward innovative ideas that challenge traditional approaches? We are seeking a Principal Infrastructure Architect to provide direction for NASCO's infrastructure strategy and play a key role in shaping the future of our technology ecosystem.
In this role, you will partner with Architecture, Product Management, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to assess current capabilities, define improved processes, and develop scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions. You will lead modernization efforts, help advance both data center and cloud strategies, and identify practical opportunities to leverage automation and AI enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and long-term scalability.

Responsibilities
  • Defines and drives the enterprise infrastructure architecture strategy, including current-state assessment and future-state roadmap
  • Partners with Architecture and managed service providers to align standards, roadmaps, and execution with business and technology objectives
  • Leads infrastructure modernization initiatives (cloud adoption, automation, simplification) to reduce complexity and improve scalability and performance
  • Establishes and matures architecture governance, standards, and reference models to ensure consistency, resiliency, and security across environments
  • Drives adoption of observability, reliability, and performance engineering practices to strengthen system health and operational outcomes
  • Identifies and implements opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, AI, and automation to improve efficiency and service delivery
  • Provides architectural oversight for major technology investments and decisions, ensuring alignment with cost, risk, scalability, and business value
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and changeleader, influencing cross-functional teams to adopt modern, integrated infrastructure practices

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Deep expertise across enterprise infrastructure domains, including cloud, hybrid, networking, compute, storage, and security
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into architecture standards, roadmaps, and scalable solutions that improve performance, resiliency, and operational efficiency
  • Demonstrated success leading infrastructure modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, automation, and platform simplification
  • Strong experience designing secure, compliant, and resilient architectures, including disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Expertise in cloud and hybrid architectures, with a focus on scalability, cost optimization, and reliability
  • Ability to establish and mature architecture governance, standards, and operating models aligned to enterprise practices
  • Experience driving improvements in observability, reliability, and performance engineering (e.g., monitoring, SLOs, service health)
  • Hands-on knowledge of automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to enable consistency, scalability, and efficiency
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies (AI/AIOps, intelligent automation) and applying them to infrastructure operations and service improvement
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical strategy and align cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to assess current-state environments and drive improvements in scalability, resiliency, and operational effectiveness
  • Proven ability to influence enterprise-level decisions, technology investments, and strategic priorities through architectural leadership

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Deep expertise in cloud and hybrid infrastructure architecture, including strategies that enable scalability, reliability, and long-term operational sustainability
  • Strong knowledge of security, networking, and regulatory frameworks to design secure, compliant, and resilient infrastructure solutions
  • Proficiency in automation, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with familiarity in AIOps and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency
  • Experience applying cost optimization and financial discipline (FinOps) in cloud and infrastructure architecture decision-making
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment, including collaboration with managed service providers and consideration of legacy environments in modernization efforts
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, cloud services, operational processes, and IT Service Management practices
  • Knowledge of security, resiliency, disaster recovery, and business continuity principles relevant to infrastructure design and operations

Experience:
  • 10 years of progressive experience across infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture, or related technical leadership roles
  • Proven track record leading enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, automation, and platform simplification
  • Experience developing and executing architecture roadmaps, standards, and future-state strategies aligned to business and technology objectives
  • Broad experience across core infrastructure domains (cloud, networking, compute, storage, security, and operations)
  • Experience improving reliability, observability, and service performance across complex infrastructure environments
  • Experience collaborating across Architecture, Engineering, Security, and external partners (e.g., MSPs) to align delivery and outcomes
  • Experience operating in regulated environments, with strong emphasis on security, compliance, and operational resilience
  • Experience advancing operational maturity and service management practices across infrastructure organizations

Required Training, Certification and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Technical certification or equivalent experience in one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Demonstrated ongoing professional development in cloud, automation, security, observability, and emerging infrastructure technologies

Working Conditions:
  • Remote/Home Office
  • Must be able to use equipment at workstation, in an indoor environment, for up to 8 hours daily
  • Travel: Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air for meetings to the office or other areas
  • May be required to work a flexible work schedule, including weekend and evening availability during outages, security incidents, deployment and maintenance-window-oriented events
