Toyon is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of our enterprise IT infrastructure, including Windows Server environments, Active Directory/Entra ID, and network services.


This role focuses on strengthening and expanding our identity systems, network capabilities, enterprise services, and automation practices. You will work closely with our Service Desk and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to ensure that the infrastructure supporting user environments, authentication, and network operations is reliable, secure, and well-integrated with compute, storage, and orchestration platforms.


Responsibilities:

  • Own and mature enterprise infrastructure services, with a focus on Windows Server environments, Active Directory/Entra ID, DNS/DHCP, and identity-integrated network services
  • Expand observability and drive performance tuning to reduce mean time to resolution
  • Enhance automation and lifecycle management of enterprise IT systems using PowerShell, Python, and configuration/automation tooling
  • Design, maintain, and improve network infrastructure, including switching, routing, firewalls, segmentation, and NAC/802.1X
  • Collaborate with SRE teams to ensure enterprise identity, authentication, and network services integrate reliably with virtualization, containerization, and storage platforms
  • Partner with the Service Desk to improve the user computing environment, endpoint lifecycle management, and escalation handling
  • Harden and patch systems to meet CMMC compliance requirements
  • Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies and regularly test recovery scenarios
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and lifecycle roadmaps
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including demonstrated skill in Microsoft Project
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Highly adaptable and able to thrive in ambiguous situations

Project Management certification (e.g. CAPM, PMP), with skills in KPI development and tracking, legal/contracts experience, and negotiation are considered valuable assets for this role.

The annual pay range for the Senior Infrastructure Engineer position is $135,000 to $175,000


The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate's education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
