Job description

Summary:
The Senior Electronic Health Record (EHR) Analyst serves as a subject matter expert for the organization's Electronic Health Record and revenue cycle applications, providing technical proficiency in workflow analysis and leadership in system optimization and support. This role helps solve complex problems, mentors junior analysts, and ensures integrated workflows, system reliability, and alignment with compliance requirements. The Senior EHR Analyst supports collaboration with stakeholders across clinical, operational, financial, and technical domains to drive innovation, efficiency, and quality in patient care and revenue cycle technology. Responsibilities extend to peripheral systems and devices connected to the EHR, including patient portal, laboratory, imaging, coding, CRM, registration, scheduling, billing, payment, and specialty applications.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Advanced EHR & Core Application Support
  • Act as advanced design, build, configuration, and optimization consultant of EHR modules (e.g., Cerner or Cerner Patient Accounting) and connected applications, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational priorities .
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement by independently engaging in learning opportunities to maintain current knowledge as well as upcoming changes in functionality and maintenance of applications in assigned solution area.
  • Oversee advanced troubleshooting for high-priority and complex application issues, coordinating with vendors, interface teams, and infrastructure as needed.
  • Configure system function and workflows to support efficient documentation, care delivery, compliance, billing, and reimbursement.

Adheres to solution-related development, implementation, and support processes and expectations.
  • Demonstrates effective systems analysis skills by ensuring appropriate technical requirements are determined from business needs and ensures consistent alignment with business needs throughout the development process.
  • Follows appropriate change management processes for new solution implementations by clearly articulating technical and workflow impacts to stakeholders and representing leadership expectations for testing strategy, issue management, implementation readiness and post-implementation monitoring.
  • Supports departmental KPIs for customer satisfaction and timely issue resolution.

Connected Application Support
  • Provide senior-level support for third-party clinical applications integrated with the EHR, including telehealth, patient engagement, scheduling platforms, patient engagement systems, and specialty department systems.
  • Provide senior-level support registration, scheduling, billing, payment, and specialty applications by performing robust testing, QA, and validation processes for all changes, upgrades, and new implementations.
  • Partner with interface/API teams to ensure seamless interoperability, data integrity, and compliance with standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
  • Lead resolution of multi-system issues impacting workflows, financial flow, or patient safety, helping to coordinate cross-team efforts.

Workflow & Integration
  • Analyze clinical and financial workflows across multiple departments to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Participate in planning and testing for upgrades, enhancements, and new implementations involving the EHR and its connected applications.
  • Ensure cross-platform workflows function as intended, including lab, imaging, pharmacy, charge services, patient accounting, and specialty integrations

Training & Documentation
  • Develop and maintain user guides, standard operating procedures, and training materials for both EHR and connected systems.
  • Provide training and support to end users across departments, tailoring instruction to specific workflows.

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing
  • Mentor and coach junior analysts, providing guidance on technical skills, workflow design, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Serve as a resource for escalated support requests and strategic decision-making.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Planning
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to help support the alignment of technology initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Support the governance, compliance, and strategic planning meetings through attendance and collaboration where needed.

Additional Job Description:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or equivalent experience working in a related field.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in EHR systems support and optimization (Cerner strongly preferred), including related connected revenue cycle applications.
  • Revenue Cycle Applications Positions: proficiency with revenue cycle applications such as Cerner Patient Accounting, Charge Services, Health Information, Optum, Experian, etc.
  • Basic understanding of Cerner Command Language (CCL)
  • Proven ability to support complex projects and collaborate across multiple teams and departments.
  • Emerging leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Successful candidates typically have experience:
  • Supporting Oracle Health/Cerner applications in a healthcare setting
  • Configuring workflows and application functionality
  • Supporting clinical or revenue cycle operations
  • Working with end users, providers, and operational leaders
  • Troubleshooting application issues and coordinating with vendors

Working Conditions
Primarily remote with some on-site work in corporate office or clinical areas.
