The Senior Informatics Nurse Specialist supports assigned portfolio work by executing workflow assessments, readiness activities, education and change-management materials, data review, standards documentation, issue triage, and sustainment support. The Senior Informatics Nurse Specialist works under the direction of a Consulting Informatics Nurse Specialist, Director of Operations, or Director of Product & Performance to advance adoption, optimization, and reliable use of health information systems and clinical applications across hospitals and patient care areas.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategy and Portfolio Support

  • Contribute to enterprise nursing informatics initiatives by completing assigned analysis, readiness, documentation, and adoption of support activities.
  • Translate frontline workflow observations, user feedback, and data trends into clear findings and recommendations for project leadership.
  • Support the use of established frameworks, standards, phase gates, and governance artifacts for enterprise initiatives and evaluations.
  • Represent end user workflow needs in working sessions with facility, division, operational, clinical, and IT partners as assigned.

Delivery and Operations

  • Support technology implementations that improve clinician workflow, communication, safety, and operational reliability.
  • Perform workflow assessments, readiness reviews, issue triage, education support, and hypercare activities for facilities and divisions.
  • Develop and maintain toolkits, job aids, training refresh materials, workflow guides, checklists, implementation documentation, and standard work packages.
  • Facilitate office hours, end-user support sessions, workflow reinforcement, and adoption follow-up under the direction of project leadership.
  • Track assigned actions, risks, issues, and barriers; escalate items requiring leadership decision, stakeholder alignment, or cross-functional support.
  • Support sustainment handoff by ensuring documentation, standards, and adoption materials are complete and current.

Data, Standards, and Optimization Support

  • Collect, organize, and review adoption, utilization, compliance, performance, and outcome signals to support portfolio monitoring.
  • Prepare dashboard inputs, summary materials, and executive-ready packets when assigned to data monitoring and analytics functions.
  • Maintain standards libraries, audit tools, implementation checklists, and optimization documentation when assigned to governance and standards functions.
  • Identify workflow variation, adoption gaps, training needs, and optimization opportunities based on data, observation, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Document lessons learned and recommended updates to standard work, playbooks, and sustainment materials.

Performance and Professional Skills

  • Manage assigned work reliably, meet agreed-upon timelines, and communicate status, dependencies, and risks clearly.
  • Build effective relationships across corporate, division, facility, clinical, operational, and IT teams.
  • Demonstrate effective organizational, analytical, facilitation, and written communication skills.
  • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft products, collaboration tools, and business intelligence or reporting tools used by the team.
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to clinical informatics, performance improvement, clinical operations, and professional growth.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, Nursing required
  • Master's degree, Informatics or related field preferred
  • Active RN license required
  • 5+ years combined experience in clinical practice and informatics required
  • Ability to travel up to 50% required
  • In-office role located in Nashville, TN
